Interview with KO KO MO
Question: How would you describe your music?
KO KO MO: Warren : We describe our music as a Power-Rock band.
Question: Which is your favourite song to perform live and why?
KO KO MO: In fact, we don't have one. It's almost been 2 years of playing the same songs from the first album and we are still not tired of it. We hope it will be the same for the next one.
Question: If you could have anyone, in the world, attend a show, who would it be?
KO KO MO: They are so many… Thom Yorke, Robert Plant, Josh Homme, Paul Mcartney…
Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?
KO KO MO: We really enjoy doing recording and pre-production stuff but we are definitely a live band.
Question: What is the story behind the band name?
KO KO MO: At the beginning of the project, we were still playing a lot of blues. KO KO MO is the name of a blues legend
James "Kokomo" Arnold. It's also the name of an old Indian chief. It has a different signification in many Asian countries… And I just liked the sound of it. It's simple, tribal and unclassifiable.
Question: How did the band come together?
KO KO MO: K20 and I met during a rehearsal session for another band. We both thought right away that we could have way more fun with a side project. That was a good decision because the band has broke up just a few rehearsals and we just kept going on with the little side project!
Question: What motivates you most when writing music?
KO KO MO: How is it going to destabilize me! Because you'll never know before you start how you are going to finish the song.
Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?
KO KO MO: We played with a band from Netherlands called
DeWolff. They are just incredible. We listen to all sorts of styles everyday… From Bjork to Radiohead … Or John Lee Hooker to Serge Gainsbourg. Good stuff has no limits.
Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?
KO KO MO: Our manager … Seriously they are doing an amazing job for us and I think that it is a pretty rare thing to find someone you really trust and who is inspiring you in this big Music Industry business.
Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?
KO KO MO: K20 will certainly answer people like Thom Yorke, Nigel Godrich or Bjork… But I think I will choose the guys from DeWolff because we are the same age and they are full of ideas, thirsty for everything. Or if I would choose something really big maybe Neil Young, Jack white, Dave Grohl or Dan Auerbach… Many choices!
Question: Where can we find you?
