A Summer Anthem
Gippsland rapper Kyso is back with party anthem Get It Right. With summer around the corner, Kyso provides the vibes with pop like production and catchy melodies. This new jam is set to land on pool party playlists around the country and comes after Drop Out Featuring Dex earlier this year.
The visuals that compliment the single, show Kyso at a pool party with his entourage of friends popping champagne and celebrating life. With no distractions or worries present, Kyso happily delivers his flow to the audience showing his easy going nature and laid back dance moves - a consistent trait in his past releases.
If his performances are anything to go by, Kyso is in line for great things, supporting the likes of Eleji and Boy Graduate throughout 2018 saw him perfect his set and gain fans statewide. With no sign of slowing down and plenty more surprises in the pipeline, Kyso is bound to make some noise with this summer anthem "Get It Right".
Interview with Kyso
Question: How would you describe your music?
Kyso: Melodic with pop vibes but still really Hip-Hop influenced. Lyrically dark or "Feel Good".
Question: Can you tell us about Get It Right?
Kyso: Get It Right is a summer anthem I made about good times with friends and family. It's about feeling alive and not caring about anything else you're just living in the moment.
Question: What inspired the track?
Kyso: I had the instrumental for a long time and actually wrote a different song to it but then scrapped that and eventually came back to it and wrote Get It Right in about half an hour. I remember it being a really nice summer day and I just wanted to incorporate that in the song. Also friends and family definitely inspired it.
Question: Can you tell us about the video for Get It Right?
Kyso: The video is set in a party type theme but only with a small amount of friends and family. I wanted to capture us all having fun popping champagne and partying but also doing it in a summer type environment with pools, palm trees, basketball court, etc, etc.
Question: Was it a crazy bunch of fun, filming the video?
Kyso: It was definitely an amazing night. I had such a fun night doing the video. I woke up to some horrible news the morning of so I was in a pretty bad mood all day but I stuck it out and had the best time filming it.
Question: Which is your favourite song to perform live and why?
Kyso: I'd definitely have to say Get It Right as cliché as that sounds. I've had the song finished for nearly a year before release so I've performed it at heaps of gigs and it always is received by the crowd so well and always gets everyone up dancing having a good time.
Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?
Kyso: Definitely performing live. I mean recording is fun for sure, seeing your lyrics come to life is awesome but nothing beats the feeling of performing live. I can't explain it but it's like the best high ever.
Question: What motivates you most when writing music?
Kyso: Mainly what I'm going through at that point in time, a lot of my music is based around mental illness and girls I'd have to say though. Trying to work some more feel good songs in like Get It Right though.
Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to? >
Kyso: Listening to Lil Wayne at the moment I'm loving Tha Carter V and also 6LACK's new album.
Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?
Kyso: 360 was actually a huge influence on me when I first started. Seeing him perform live with Eminem and accomplish some of the things he has definitely made me think I can do the same thing.
Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?
Kyso: In Australia I really want to collaborate with my friend I AM D or Midas Gold, Anfa Rose or Manu Crook$ would be really cool too. Around the world there is probably too many to name but J Cole or Drake would be a dream collab for me.
Question: What's next, for you?
Kyso: At the moment I'm just making sure Get It Right goes as good as it can possibly go. I'm planning on having a single launch later in the year and hopefully playing some festivals over 2018/2019 period. Hopefully drop an EP next year too.
