Land of the Bears provides an unforgettable 3D vision of Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, famous for its rich and dynamic population of brown bears. Using 3D technology supplied by co-producer James Cameron (Titanic, Avatar), it is the first nature documentary to have been shot with 3D cameras.
Offering an exclusive look into the lives of these amazing beasts, we follow the stories of a number of bears, each at a unique stage in their lives. One of those featured is a young male bear, only just venturing out into the harsh wilderness on his own for the first time. He has to navigate the dangerous power struggles among his kind while searching out as much salmon as possible before the arrival of winter.
Shot over a period of 12 months in this rugged and remote terrain, the result is a remarkable and realistic insight into the existence of these magnificent creatures and how they are inextricably linked to the surrounding ecosystem in which they live.
Released just in time for Christmas, Land of the Bears makes for a great gift as well as a fun night of family viewing these school holidays.
