Interview with Leony
Question: What inspired the track More Than Friends
Leony: My producer Vitali Zestovksih and I always try to find new sounds and ways to catch people. I think 'More Than Friends' is a topic that nearly everyone has experienced and can relate to. It's about a relationship between two people, where the one is afraid of commitment even though it's obvious that there's this special connection between the two and that they're more than friends.
Question: What motivates you most when writing music?
Leony: I don't think you can talk about "motivation" when it comes to writing music. Music is my whole life and it turned into this inevitable thing that's just there. But I take my inspiration from my own life experiences, my friends' experiences and a lot of times it's just emotions that needs to come out.
Question: What message do you hope More Than Friends sends?
Leony: I don't think more than friends is a song with a super serious message, it's a song that nearly makes fun of commitment issues. I still hope people can connect with the lyrics because I think it's a topic that the majority of people have experienced. Also I hope people want to get up and dance when listening to the song.
Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?
Leony: I love both! I love performing live cause you can see real emotions, while recording and writing songs is amazing because you literally create something out of nothing. There's a lot of magic in both of them.
Question: If you could have anyone, in the world, attend a show, who would it be?
Leony: My dad cause he's telling me since I'm a little kid that when I have a bigger gig he wants me to invite him on stage and perform a song with me.
Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?
Leony: Anything from pop to RnB to rock to oldies, my playlist is full with songs from all centuries and all genres and it always depends on my mood. My favourite artists right now are probably Jon Bellion and Julia Michaels.
Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?
Leony: I didn't grow up in a super musical family but still music was there for me from the very beginning. The one artist I looked up the most as a kid was Alicia Keys because I was just so fascinated by her vocals and her piano skills and she was the reason why I started to take piano lessons.
Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?
Leony: Coldplay.
Question: What's a typical day like?
Leony: I get up, get ready and go to the studio here in Berlin. Most of the time I come home super late at night, go to bed straight away and back to the studio again the next day so there's not much time for other things but I love it.
Question: Can you share your socials?
