Live Summer Series at Fed Square

Live Summer Series at Fed Square

Melbourne Music Week

Fed Square Live is the iconic square's celebration of music, creativity and local talent and is set to shine again this Summer as its inaugural concert is launched as part of Melbourne Music Week (MMW) on Thursday 23 November from 6pm.  Co-presented by Fed Square together with Face The Music and Her Sound, Her Story, the first show features rising female stars Ali Barter, Alice Skye and Hey Mammoth, as they bring their diverse musical expressions to the stage in a celebration of female talent.

Face The Music is a contemporary music summit, taking place on Thursday 23 and Friday 24 November as part of Melbourne Music Week.  Its hub is at St Paul's Cathedral and venues around Fed Square, making the Square the most vibrant musical and arts precinct in the city.  Her Sound, Her Story is a documentary and movement that has positioned women at the forefront of the Australian music scene and will provide the visual backdrop for the concert event on the Main Stage.  This will be a free concert with the action starting from 6pm and open to all ages with something for every musical taste.

Ali Barter has some serious street cred.  A former Triple J Unearthed winner, Ali has gone on to release three EPs and a debut album, and has been hand-picked to support rock legends, Stevie Nicks and The Pretenders on their upcoming Australian tours.  Not afraid to tell messy emotional tales in her grunge pop style, Ali will rock the stage as the city celebrates its thriving, world-renowned music scene as part of Melbourne Music Week.

Alice Skye was a 2015 finalist in Triple J's Unearthed Indigenous artist competition and has been named one of the five new indigenous artists to include on your playlist.  A singer-songwriter, Alice's original songs are sensitive and mature, influenced by her family home in Victoria's Grampians region and her proud indigenous heritage.

Hey Mammoth, an all-female acoustic trio, started their musical lives as back-up singers in a soul fusion band before branching out on their own.  A quirky combo of acoustic, folky, original sounds, overlaid with a sprinkling of edgy harmonies and thought-provoking lyrics, Hey Mammoth encourage gig-goers to get down and boogie!

This will be the first concert in its five week series in the lead up to Christmas and Fed Square Live will bring some of Melbourne's best local musical talent to the stage every Thursday from 6pm.  Supported by The City of Melbourne, this series is a celebration of Melbourne's vibrant music culture.  Music lovers can come to expect the unexpected at this amazingly diverse, fascinating and engaging pop-up season of live music in November and December.
