Interview with Lucas Brian Ferreira and VISH

Question: How would you describe your music?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: My music is a mixture of early 2000's RnB, contemporary and old school hip-hop, with psychadelic and spiritual subject matters.

VISH: Fun, energetic but chill.

Question: Can you tell us about Champion?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: I absolutely can! It's a song produced, written and sung by myself, with a beautiful verse by Vish, a good friend of mine.

Question: What inspired Champion?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: Champion deals with the idea of young men struggling to find meaning in responsibility, despite the love felt for their friends and family. On my end, it's a protest of how isolated young men tend to end up, and how fragmented society has become, in so far as our ability to make young men feel welcome.

The name is a reference to medieval military heirarchies, where certain soldiers where considered champions for their contributions to their countries. eg. The Queens Champion.

Question: What was it like working with each other on this collaboration?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: It was great, Vish is a fantastic vocalist, and her lyrics on the track really bring it all together. I definitely wouldn't have been able to finish the track, or at least make it as emotional as it ended up without her.

VISH: It was a really fun creative process and we really enjoyed it! We were bouncing off lyrics and Lucas was creating beats, and it became a case of putting two and two together to make this track.

Question: Is there a particular message you hope listeners take from your music?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: Like many musicians, I want to create art that lights up the dark. I want people to know that they aren't alone. Or possibly, I want to find out if I'm not alone (laughs). Maybe you need to cry, or dance, or laugh. Whatever it is, that's what the artist is here for.

Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: Both are quite different. I feel like recordings can end up having a quality that live performances aren't often able to achieve, If I had to pick though, I'd go with live performance, nothing beats being face to face with a crowd and doing what you do best.

VISH: Definitely performing live, there's a hype that goes behind playing your music for live listeners out there.

Question: Which is your favourite song to perform live and why?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: We've not performed live yet for this project, but I did a pretty mean rendition of Tribute by Tenatious D in front of a couple hundred people. That was definitely my favorite instance of live performance.

VISH: I don't have one, whatever is good music is music to everyone, and that becomes the current favourite.

Question: If you could have anyone, in the world, attend a show, who would it be?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: Kanye West probably. Even though he's basically the most famous person on earth, I feel like he'd be really good to hang out with.

VISH: Hard question, but would have to pick Hans Zimmer.

Question: What motivates you most when writing music?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: For me, writing music is like therapy. I get out everything I feel, whatever I want to say, I put it all together and wrap it up in a bow and send it off into the world. Nothing better than that!

VISH: A lot of emotion and whatever feeling is right in that specific moment.

Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: Currently I've been listening to a lot of Caroline Polachek. Her music is everything I like all in the same place. Aside from that, Travis Scott, Juice WRLD, Saint Jhn etc; lot's of hip hop.

VISH: Really loving Jon Bellion, Illenium, Travis Scott and Future.

Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: Ricky Martin! As a Spanish speaker, It was really nice to see someone bridging the gap between South America and the Western world and also "Livin La Vida Loca" was probably the first song I could say was my favourite.

VISH: The inspiration to write and create music really. There wasn't any other factor. I objectively like to make music so that's my inspiration.

Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: Travis Scott definitely. I don't know what we'd end up doing, But I'm sure it'd be great.

VISH: Jon Bellion - he has really good music and he's really innovative as well, which is something I vibe with.

Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: Balancing work and music has been quite difficult. Often times you'll end up with a lot of doubts over whether or not you should pursue your dream but I guess if it's meant to be, you'll always end up coming back.

VISH: Getting used to rejection and hoping something good would come along.

Question: What's a typical day like?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: A typical day tends to start and end at midnight, often times it'll be filled with about 24 hours to do whatever you wish.

VISH: Studying, gymming and sitting at the piano songwriting at odd hours of the night.

Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: I just love producing music, singing and creating art. Once the money starts coming in we might add a little more to that list (laughs).

VISH: The pure art of creativity.

Question: What's next, for you?

Lucas Brian Ferreira: More studio sessions, more songs. That's as far as we can plan at this point. The rest will come from the environment!

VISH: More music, what else?

Question: Can you share your socials?
