More up front and cheeky than ever, Lucy Sugerman is back with her new track "golden boy," the third offering from her upcoming debut EP out late this year. Written and produced with young guns and friends Charlie Hole (Thomas Porter) and Hannah Brewer (Brewer), "golden boy" sees Lucy unapologetically tell it like it is with her staple punchy pop hooks and bold lyrical imagery.
Visually inspired by her Vietnamese heritage, sonically inspired by her songwriting heroes of the 60s and 70s, the bedroom-pop movement, as well as her everyday experiences of modern love and life, up-and-coming popstar, Lucy Sugerman, shows off her talents with this new unapologetic track which features a knack of clever lyricism combined with Sugerman's airy vocals making "golden boy" the newest heartbreak pop anthem.
"I was pretty fired up when I wrote It. It's the first song from this project where the depreciation lands on someone other than me! I think for me, "golden boy" captures that stage of the breakup process where you're angry as a coping mechanism, and trying to focus on the bad side of a relationship as a method of moving on. I know writing it was super cathartic and a huge emotional turning point for me," said Lucy. "Regardless of who's right or wrong, I hope all my fellow heartbroken and jaded people can relate and have a little chuckle about their decisions in love and things they put up with too."
