Interview with Luke Potter
Question: Tell us about One Day?
Luke Potter: This song is about staying true to yourself, and most importantly about forgiving yourself for the mistakes you may have made in the past.
I was lucky enough to record this song in LA with an amazing producer called Bleu. He's worked with guys like Demi Lovato, the Jonas brothers and Boys Like Girls.
Question: What message do you home this EP says to listeners?
Luke Potter: I hope it tells listeners that I'm a serious Singer/Songwiter. I write music because I want people to relate to me. I try to put myself in other people's shoes when I write.
Question: Did you have any pre-conceived ideas about the music industry?
Luke Potter: Not really, although I do feel I understand how hard it is to break through.
Question: Do you write your own songs? What's your inspiration?
Luke Potter: I do write all of my own songs. I get most of my inspiration from my own feelings. This means they are mostly about love and finding your place in the world.
Question: What music/artists do you listen to when you are not playing your own?
Luke Potter: I listen to lots of different music. I like anything from The Script to Ed Sheeran.
My favourite band though is The Goo Goo Dolls.
Question: What's next? Tour/Album/Single?
Luke Potter: I've just released an EP with three tracks on it called 'One Day', which I'm very proud of. The next step will be releasing my single called 'It's OK to Dream' which I'm very excited about. It will be available on iTunes, Amazon and the other main digital places from 25th of March.
I'm also releasing quite a few new videos, including one for the next single, over the next few weeks so keeping busy.
As far as touring, I'm about to do a four week school tour in the UK, I did some dates at the end of last year and really enjoyed it.
And, I'm hoping to do a few dates when I get to LA in April too.
Question: Was there a moment you contemplated throwing in the towel?
Luke Potter: I'd be lying if I said doing this wasn't hard, it's an emotional roller coaster every single day, but I've never thought about giving up.
Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?
Luke Potter: Nothing beats playing live but the recording process can be very exciting also.
You get such a buzz when playing your music to people especially if they've never heard it before. Recording on the other hand is exciting because you never know what to expect even if you think you know the song inside out.
Question: What/who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?
Luke Potter: I remember borrowing a friends iPod and listening to the Goo Goo Dolls for the first time and from that moment on I wanted to write my own music.
I grew up around music. My Dad was in a band 30 years ago and so it has always been in a big part of my home life.
Question: What is the biggest challenge you have faced along the way to your musical success?
Luke Potter: Having to be patient and accepting things don't happen overnight.
Question: What's a typical day like?
Luke Potter: I don't really have a typical day. One day I could be in the studio recording, another I could be responding to fans, another could be filming a video, so each day is different. There's so much variety that I could never get bored.
Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?
Luke Potter: I would say my favourite part about being a musician and writing my own songs is the challenge of being able to explain certain situations of my life in a 3-4minute song.
Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?
Luke Potter: Jonny Rzeznik is the main one but there are many artists that I would find unbelievable to get the chance to work with.
Question: Do you have a website fans can visit?
Luke Potter: I certainly do its
