The world's comfiest couch company Maker&Son is thrilled to announce its arrival into the Australian marketplace with plans to shake-up the Australian retail industry.
Maker&Son is a disruptive digital brand selling luxury furniture online made entirely from natural materials, completely changing the way people buy luxury furniture globally.
The brand launched in January 2018 by Instagram and had immediate sales enquiries around the world, sales were so strong within Australia that the brand signed an agreement with a local manufacturer within two months.
Founded by Father and step-son duo, Alex Willcock and Felix Conran together boast some of the strongest design credentials and design heritages in the world. Stemming from third generation design royalty, Felix Conran is the grandson of Sir Terence Conran who pioneered a new era in retailing home products through stores like Habitat.
Alex Willcock a trailblazer, was the brains trust behind Country Road homewares in Australia and spearheaded what is now the well-known retail success story. Returning to the UK in 1995, Willcock became Buying Director of the acclaimed The Conran Shop and developed in his time as director a huge range of products for the Conran Collection.
Much like establishing what we now call Country Road homewares in Australia, Alex Willcock is certain he's onto the new wave of quality and craftsmanship in the homewares industry by, pioneering the new way of selling and purchasing homewares.
"Maker&Son is without question a disruptor, actively challenging the luxury end of a stale industry, Maker&Son has fully embraced technology and created a digital world for customers that allows it to deliver exceptional craftsmanship, quality and luxury design in a range of minimalist products that would otherwise be unaffordable for customers," says Willcock." he says.
"Maker&Son prides itself on being a truly eco brand, having a natural product that will last a lifetime is the keystone of Maker&Son and is not only the future but the only way to consider the future, we pride ourselves in that our locally manufactured product isn't just good for the environment but they're the world's most comfortable couches too," says Willcock.
"We provide a significant customer advantage and even though 90% of our customers have purchased our furniture before ever having sat in it, we've now introduced the option to trial before they buy without having a retail store, now that's a game-changer," he said.
One of the first truly digitally native homewares brands, Maker&Son is a game-changer in the modern design world. With an established and growing businesses in the United Kingdom, the US and Australia, Maker&Son plans to aggressively expand into the US market and is in the process of seeking a local manufacturer and sales team.

Each Maker&Son product is made by local producers and bought from a cruelty-free source supplier and accredited by the International Down and Feather Bureau.
The designers spent two years developing their entirely natural product which uses wool and cotton padding, ethically-sourced feathers, and natural latex.
