Mango Mess-tival

Mango Mess-tival

North Bondi will be buzzing with mango covered smiles and sticky fingers at the annual Mango Mess-tival on Sunday, December 2. Marking the peak of the Australian mango season and now in its seventh year, Mess-tival is inviting its nippers and local mango lovers to celebrate Australia's favourite summer fruit.

As the largest celebration of mangoes in the country, Mess-tival 2018 will also host the world's first ever light display powered entirely by mangoes. Using the natural charge (just under 1 volt) contained in each mango, connected up will create enough energy to light up the world's first mango powered lightbox.

Mango Mess-tival is also full of fun and messy activities for everyone to enjoy, including a bike-powered smoothie machine and the famous fruit carver creating his intricate and innovative mango carvings. The public will be able to watch nippers compete in mango-based challenges, such as relay races and also take on the nippers in the most delicious competition Australia has to offer –mango eating!

Spreading the love from across Australia, mango growers will also be getting involved by donating trays of various mango varieties including Kensington Pride, R2E2, Calypso and Honey Gold for attendees to sample. No Aussie festival is complete without a barbeque, and Mess-tival isn't disappointing, with plenty of barbecued mango cheeks on offer.

This year, Australian Mangoes are also launching a very limited edition pair of Budgy Smugglers - a marriage of two Aussie icons. The garments will be seen for the first ever time at the event, to celebrate the launch of the mango emoji across Australia.
