Interview with Melody Thornton

Question: What can you tell us about Australia's Ultimate Worldie?

Melody Thornton: Australia's Ultimate Worldie is a reality show I am taking part in alongside Ricci Guarnaccio and Shane Tyler Greaves.

Question: What is a -worldie'?

Melody Thornton: A Worldie is an epic human. Certainty we all have different ideas of the 'entire package', my definition is a person who has a great personality, bright, kind and has some star quality and a definite talent to add to the entertainment industry.

Question: What are you enjoying most about being in Australia?

Melody Thornton: I'm enjoying my outdoor workouts. I hiked and got lost in what seemed like the jungle today. I love nature, the beaches are beautiful.

Question: What inspired you to take on the Australia's Ultimate Worldie challenge?

Melody Thornton: What made me interested in finding Australia's Ultimate Worldie is, I think myself, Ricci and Shane are all looking for something different. The magic will come at a point where we all agree. The casting really is brilliant as we all have different backgrounds. I was a part of a huge well-oiled machine with The Pussycat Dolls, and understand the magnitude of success. Ricci knows reality television like the back of his hand and Shane can spot talent from anywhere.

Question: What's it like working alongside Geordie Shore's Ricci?

Melody Thornton: Ricci is the best, we are having so much fun; he's teaching me a lot about camera angles and what works for this type of entertainment.

Question: Who are you and Ricci looking for?

Melody Thornton: Well... hahah! That should make up a lot of why this show will be entertaining. Ricci and I are looking at totally different attributes in each contestant. We are both pretty strong in our opinions; you'll have to tune in to see what I mean.

Question: What's a typical day like?

Melody Thornton: We have been judging contestants in nightclub settings so far, we'll see what's next.

Question: What inspires you when writing your own music?

Melody Thornton: I am a huge fan of the sounds, movement and evolution that came from the 1960s/70s. I love Nancy Sinatra, Shirley Bassey, Eartha Kitt, BB King, The Jackson 5, Aretha Franklin... there are so many. I grew up entertaining and placing a lot of times in poetry and singing contests so the lyrics come pretty naturally. Melodies are the most important though, to me. It has to grab a hold of you and not let go.

Question: What advice do you have for young Australians who want to become successful musical artists?

Melody Thornton: Well I would tell anyone who aspires to make music that it is important to make your presence felt and necessary. Those things that make you different are the ones that will seperate you from the ordinary, so don't try to fit in. Practice your craft please and take voice lessons, performing artds, drama as they will all come into play when your big oppotunity presents itself. You want to be ready.

Question: What's next, for you?

Melody Thornton: Next for me, aside from filming Worldie is releasing new music. Yes, I am released new music! Hang in there all. Thanks to so many for their endless support and patience. I am an independent artist so I fund every part of my music related project and that takes some time. It's on it's way.
