You might not recognize the name, but youll no doubt recognize the face. Mila Kunis played Jackie Burkhart in That 70s Show between 1998 and 2006. Shes also the voice of Meg Griffin in Family Guy. But the 25-year-old stunner is now making her assault on the big screen. Earlier this year she was in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. In her latest film, Max Payne, she has a much bigger role. Based on the popular game of the same name, Kunis plays a sexy assassin whos out for revenge. Gaynor Flynn spoke to the busy young actress recently about her latest film, being a pin up girl, and why she wont be taking off her clothes on screen anytime soon.
Gaynor Flynn: Tell me about your character in Max Payne.
Mila Kunis: I play a character her name is Mona Stacks. She is an assassin and she loses her sister and she assumes Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg) was the one who was responsible for it. But he gets set up. So she goes on a spree to kill Max Payne and while doing so they both realize theyre looking for the same bad guy. And they kind of team up together and ultimately realize that you cant save the dead and once a person is dead theyre gone and revenge doesnt solve anything.
Gaynor Flynn: What training did you have to do for this role?
Mila Kunis: I had weapons training more so than anything. Like I can put MK5 together and apart and I can shoot a Colt evenly. I did that. I did a little bit of baton training.
Gaynor Flynn: Do you normally, work out and keep fit?
Mila Kunis: I do not work out at all. I go through phases. Ill do Pilates for two months then Ill get bored. A year later Ill do yoga for two months then Ill get bored. So no Im not one of those work out fiends.
Gaynor Flynn: Did you discover anything about yourself while making this film?
Mila Kunis: Only that I can shoot a gun really well.
Gaynor Flynn: Whats Mark Whalberg like to work with?
Mila Kunis: Mark is great. Hes a gentleman. Hes incredibly professional, hes a family man, he loves his family. Its incredibly important to him, hes an all round great guy and hes an absolute pleasure to work with. Hes everything you want out of a co star.
Gaynor Flynn: Youve become a pin up girl. How do you handle that?
Mila Kunis: I think its great and I appreciate it while its there but looks fade ultimately thats the bottom line and I hope people start noticing me for something other than that.
Gaynor Flynn: What about your growing level of fame? How do you handle that?
Mila Kunis: I dont think anythings changed. I think people think its changed but it really hasnt and if people want to admire me for my work then thats awesome but I dont think anythings changed.
Gaynor Flynn: Well down the track it might, particularly after films like this come out.
Mila Kunis: You take it one day at a time. I mean so far Im doing fine. I dont let it get to me. Its not something thats important to me. I dont put too much emphasis on it and as long as that stays as is, I think Ill be fine. I think the only time theres going to be a problem is when my opinion changes towards that. as long as it doesnt stay important to me Ill be okay. I mean who knows whats going to happen. Who knows whats going to happen tomorrow.
Gaynor Flynn: What do you like to do outside of acting?
Mila Kunis: I read a lot. I hang out with friends. I mean like any other person who has a normal nine to five. My version of nine to five is going to the set and then when I come home I do what every other normal person does. Whether thats having a bath, or go to dinner with friends or watch TV I mean its really no different.
Gaynor Flynn: How often do you have to do in and do Family Guy?
Mila Kunis: I go in once every couple of weeks and we bank a bunch of episodes together and thats about its, its not very intense at all.
Gaynor Flynn: What are you doing next?
Mila Kunis: Extract, Jason Bateman owns an extract factory and then a boy of his gets impaled in the genitals and I seduce the employee to sue the company for a $1 million. I play a pathological liar whos a kleptomaniac. Its really, really funny.
Gaynor Flynn: Do you get nervous when you get a role?
Mila Kunis: No I dont get nervous. I get excited to work on a project that youre excited about and passion about. Youre just excited to do something that makes you happy.
