LED therapy has been an effective in-clinic treatment for years, but it has mainly been available to those who have the time and resources for a series of appointments. The NEUTROGENA Visibly Clear™ Light Therapy Acne Mask uses the same technology offered by dermatologists at a lower energy level that's simple enough to use at home for a fraction of the price.

'Acne is a very common condition that affects more than just the skin - it can be a daily struggle for many teenagers and adults. LED therapy has been used by Dermatologists for many years to treat acne. It works by gently penetrating the skin and targeting acne-causing bacteria and reducing inflammation," says consultant dermatologist Dr Eleni Yiasemides. A multi-centre clinical study of the NEUTROGENA Visibly Clear™ Light Therapy Acne Mask, performed on 52 subjects with mild to moderate acne, found that 80 percent of subjects showed fewer breakouts after just one week of daily treatments. And results continued to improve over time: after 12 weeks, 98 percent had fewer breakouts and 94 percent had smoother skin. Once only available in dermatologists' clinics, LED therapy is a one-step acne treatment for your face that treats acne by reducing the existing inflamed breakouts and targeting spots before they appear.

The research also showed that that the mask doesn't just make users look better, it can make them feel better, too. In the same clinical study, 76 percent of users said that they had higher self-esteem after 12 weeks of daily sessions wearing the mask, with 69 percent reporting that they felt more comfortable interacting with others. All in all, 78 percent of the study subjects agreed that using the mask had improved their overall acne-related quality of life.

Question: Can you tell us about the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask?

Montana Cox: I can! It is brand new and the light therapy mask is the first to be seen, in Australia – it's really amazing.


Question: How does the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask work?

Montana Cox: It takes ten minutes; you just cleanse your face and then pop it on. The mask has a red and blue light; the blue light attacks the bacteria and the red light is for inflammation. It has proven to make skin look healthier, which is exciting and why I'm so happy to be a part of the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask launch.


Question: How do we prepare the face for the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask?

Montana Cox: All you have to do is make sure you have a cleansed face which is dry before putting the mask on – that will ensure the mask works best.


Question: Have you been using the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask?

Montana Cox: Yes! I have been using the mask for the past week and I really have been able to see a difference in my skin – it looks a lot smoother and the redness has gone down, a lot. I had a makeup artist notice the difference in skin which is really exciting because it's not just me who has seen the benefits.


Question: Is it easy to use the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask, whilst travelling?

Montana Cox: I haven't been travelling, as much, whilst I've had the mask however I flew to Melbourne and took the mask on the plane – just in case I had time to put it on, on the plane! It's super easy to travel with as its light – it can be taken anywhere. Travelling with the mask is like travelling with your Dermatologist especially because it can be hard to find a Dermatologist you can trust, when travelling. The Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask is perfect for me because I am always travelling and Dermatologists can be expensive.


Question: What do you usually do when wearing the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask?

Montana Cox: I typically catch up on Instagram or emails - as 10 minutes isn't a lot of time – you could put on a Netflix TV show and won't have even got half-way when the mask is finished. It's so simple to use the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask as it automatically turns off itself, after ten minutes, you don't need to time it. It's so nice to take 10 minutes to relax whilst wearing it.


Question: Do you have a morning routine?

Montana Cox: I like to steam my face, most mornings along with a face-massage because I am always staying in hotels and my skin doesn't like the air-conditioning/heating – my face gets puffy. Then, I'll cleanse my face and pop on the mask to ease the redness on my face – then I moisturise and that's usually it.
