This Mother's Day weekend, Parks Victoria invites the community to visit the rare and remarkable rural landscape at Days Mill from 10.30am to 3pm on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May.
There will be plenty of fun for the whole family with free guided tours at 11am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm, a variety of stalls, an ice-cream van for the kids, a coffee van for the mums and the Murchison CFA on site with a barbeque.
The Shepparton and District Amateur Radio Club (SADARC) will have their radio set up over the weekend to participate in the 'Mills on the Air' event which connects mill from all over the world – including our neighbours at Andersons Mill in Smeaton, who are also participating in the event.
Bookings aren't required to visit the Mill or attend the tours, but visitors are urged to wear suitable clothing, footwear and sun protection and bring a water bottle.
Days Mill is one of the best preserved examples of nineteenth century mill technology in Australia and an important historic place in the region. It is open to the public as part of the Australian Heritage Festival, of which Parks Victoria is an official partner.
The Australian Heritage Festival is coordinated annually by the National Trust of Australia. The Festival is created with the vision of recognising and celebrating the significance of our natural, historic and Indigenous heritage places and ensuring they are valued by Australians, protected for future generations and cared for by the community. The theme for the 2019 Australian Heritage Festival is Connecting People, Places and the Past.
