Interview with Natalee Linez

Question: How would you describe Siren?

Natalee Linez: Siren is mysterious, mythical and extremely edgy; I love how forward it is. The show takes you into the small fishing town of Bristol Cove, where things are not as they seem. Humans are walking amongst the most interesting of creatures… mermaids.

Question: Can you tell us about your character, Nicole Martinez?

Natalee Linez: Nicole is the mysterious new girl in town. In the beginning of the season you don't know exactly what her intentions are. She's definitely got eyes on the local fisherman, Xander Mcclure. Come to find out… (*spoiler alert*) she works for the military! It's really fun to play two completely different sides of a character. Nicole is extremely ambitious and really good at what she does. She's in Bristol Cove for a very specific reason- she's looking for answers.

Question: How can you relate to your character, Nicole?

Natalee Linez: Like I said before, she's very ambitious! I can relate to this aspect of her. It takes a lot of persistence and positive energy to be in the industry I am in. I don't give up easily, no matter how many times I am told no, and neither does she!

Question: What's the best part about being on-set for Siren?

Natalee Linez: The entire cast and crew are so extremely kind and we all have the best time together on and off set. In between takes we play games and sometimes, on the weekends when we're off set, have BBQ's and game nights. There's never a dull moment. We shoot in beautiful Vancouver, so this is a huge perk to being on the show! I saw sights I didn't even know existed in real life.

Question: Can you tell us about your volunteer work with School on Wheels?

Natalee Linez: I am currently an ambassador at School on Wheels. Part of my role with this non-profit is planning events throughout the year for all of our lovely volunteers. We get together a few times a year and do projects for our students (who are homeless in the Southern California area living on the streets, in shelters, community homes, etc.) I also tutor a homeless child once a week by hanging out with them doing school work and just getting to know the child. They love to have someone to talk to and be consistent light/positive energy in their life. My goal is to inspire the younger generation to follow their dreams no matter where they come from. You can do anything you set your mind to!

Question: Do you have a daily ritual, could you share that with us?

Natalee Linez: I try and meditate every single morning…and I have to say try because it's a lot harder than one thinks! I meditate for 5-10 minutes depending on my mood. Then I stretch! It's important to take care of our muscles even if we don't do a work out that day. Also, my beauty regimen: I would definitely consider this a daily ritual because I do it every day, twice a day. Go to keep your skin glowing!

Question: How have these practices helped you becoming comfortable with rejection in the industry?

Natalee Linez: I try to ground myself as much as possible. Remind myself daily why I started and why I have chosen the career path that I am in. If I'm feeling low or like I have had a lot of rejection that week, I will try and read or watch something that inspires me again. Also, meditating helps a lot. Just working on the inner self in general is important for all of us.

Question: Who or what inspired your passion for acting? To be honest, I was inspired when I was younger and watching Disney channel! I was obsessed with Selena Gomez on Wizards of Waverly Place. I knew exactly what I wanted to do at a very young age…and nothing was going to get in the way of me pursuing it!

Question: What's next, for you?

Natalee Linez: I have so many fun projects coming up that I can't talk too much about, but I'm super excited for everyone to see what I have been working hard on.
