Every year around 250 Australian children die and 58,000 are hospitalised due to preventable injuries, often referred to as -accidents.' In fact, children are more likely to be injured in their own driveway than any other public place.
So many of these injuries are avoidable, which is why Kidsafe started National Kidsafe Day (NKD) to increase awareness of unintentional childhood deaths and injuries to Australian children, and to promote strategies to address their prevention. They also aim to highlight the valuable work of Kidsafe in public education, advocacy and research.
