New Zealand Fashion Duet

Oyster Magazine and Air New Zealand's first fashion duet in Australia at minus5 Ice Lounge

Air New Zealand and Oyster Magazine hosted an Australian first - a collaborative event to promote kiwi fashion in Australia on 5th December at the Minus 5 Ice Lounge and Bubble Champagne Cocktail Lounge. The event featured an Australian first view of kiwi design for Winter 2007 from this year's Air New Zealand Fashion Week. Karen Walker, a mentor in Air New Zealand's fashion development programme, is flying to Australia especially for the event.

The event was held in two parts, the first installation a fashion show in the minus5 Ice Lounge which featured designs for Winter 2007, from Karen Walker, Huffer, Zambesi and several other renowned New Zealand fashion labels, both established and up and coming. The newly opened Bubble Champagne Lounge located adjoining minus5 was a buzz with it's delectable Canapés and Cocktails post fashion show.

The event was attended by the top names in kiwi fashion including; Karen Walker who was the guest of honour. Sydney's fashion elite, media and a host of Australian celebrities and socialities also made a spectacular appearance including Evermore.

To capture this Australian first, a 16 page mini-mag will appear in the December / January issue of Oyster magazine, featuring extensive runway report coverage from the event, designer interviews and a fashion photo shoot onboard an Air New Zealand Boeing 747 aircraft.

"We approach all our creative challenges individually and the results from this partnership truly reflect the great fashion that is coming out of New Zealand at the moment," says Monica Nakata, Oyster Magazine Publisher.

Mark Street, Air New Zealand's Marketing Manager in Australia says the airline's involvement in the kiwi fashion show has been good for everyone involved.

"This was our third year of sponsoring Air New Zealand Fashion Week and we've really been able to help raise its profile nationally and internationally. Oyster Magazine has been a long time supporter of several kiwi designers and so we were excited by the opportunity to collaborate with them in Australia on this activity."

Oyster magazine will be available in all Air New Zealand lounges and on selected flights. For more information visit www.oystermag.com.
