Oktoberfest Comes to Melbourne – 365 Days a Year!

Oktoberfest in Munich. Where consuming seven million litres of bier is a right of passage, shouting 'Prost!" with every beverage is considered mandatory, and six million people come to the city to indulge in the biggest party of their lives.

While it's previously been reserved for those with enough Frequent Flyers to justify a trip to Bavaria, now the world's favourite festival can be enjoyed without stepping foot out of South wharf, Melbourne. Enter Munich Brauhaus.

Launching mid-August, the uber venue is the latest venture from the Urban Purveyor Group, and brings to life a traditional Bavarian bierhaus, where guests can dine, drink and party like Oktoberfest never ended. The state-of-the-art waterfront venue will seat over 900 people, who will abide by the venue's only rule: what happens in Munich stays in Munich. It's the place where the jokes about uber weiners will be aplenty, memories made with mates will be wunderbar, and the most popular pickup line will be, 'Deutsch you want me, baby?"

While there's no doubting it will be a party destination to rival Oktoberfest itself, Munich will launch with a serious nod to Melbourne's sophisticated dining scene. Paying homage to all things pork, the menu features suckling pig, sourced locally from Riverlea and cooked over a charcoal spit.

It goes without saying that bier lovers can look forward to washing it all down with the venue's very own signature Munich Lager, as well as a series of exclusively imported Bavarian Biers. The Fürstenburg Premium Pils will be exclusively available at the venue, alongside favourites like the Löwenbräu Original, Stiegl Goldbräu, Franziskaner Hefe Weizen Hell, seasonal brews like the Oktoberfestbier, and so much more. They can all be enjoyed before letting loose to the traditional German oom pah pah bands and imported DJs.

With 250 waterfront seats taking in the spectacular view, three bars and private function rooms, it is also the ultimate destination for corporate events and celebrations. Launching just in time for Oktoberfest and Melbourne's Spring/Summer events calendar, Munich will be the hotspot for the AFL final series (just around the corner from Etihad Stadium), Fashion Week, Spring Racing Carnival and the Christmas and New Year party season.

The iconic new venue has been developed by the people who make having fun their livelihood – the Urban Purveyor Group. Having owned and operated Sydney's renowned Löwenbräu Keller for over 40 years, as well as nine Bavarian Bier Café venues across NSW and Queensland, they have a rich history of creating authentic Bavarian experiences. They know Munich. They know Oktoberfest. And now they're bringing it to Melbourne with Munich Brauhaus.
