Big Brother Star - Peter

Big Brother Star - Peter
UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH BIG BROTHER SPUNK - PETER TIMBS

Since appearing in the hugely popular Big Brother series, spunky housemate Peter Timbs' life has never been the same. Thrown into a house with 12 unknowns under the watchful eye of the Australian public, he has become an instant celebrity overnight. Peter caught up with the GIRL gang where he discussed life after Big Brother and his plans for the future.

Girl: How are you dealing with your sudden fame?

Peter: I am getting used to it now but initially it was quite intimidating actually. Everyone wanted to know me, which is a little scary! (laughs) The most bizarre thing is that everyone thinks they know us because of the roles we were playing in the house, which were basically ourselves. So people think they know us on that very personal level. They come and have a chat to you about this and that and it's quite bizarre because you have know idea who they are but they know a lot about you!

Girl: Do you still remain in contact with the other Big Brother housemates?

Peter: Not all of them but the majority of them I do. A lot of them are in Melbourne so I don't get to see those guys as I am based in Sydney. I see Ben quite a lot and keep in contact with Blair as well. So when I get the opportunity I get to hang out with them for sure.

Girl: What lesson did you learn the most from having stayed in the Big Brother House?

Peter: Patience - the setup was intense and there was a lot of things that people didn't like but you had to get along and just bite your tongue a lot of the time so as not to upset the whole household. Especially with that old Sara Marie - had to bite my tongue around her quite a lot! (laughs)

Girl: I can only imagine! Now what doors have opened for you since your departure from the show?

Peter: Well I am getting to travel all over the country and meet really cool people. I get invited to certain parties, premieres and that sort of thing. Girls come to talk to me all the time, they never used to speak to me before! (laughs) I've had the opportunity to go on Channel V, get free tickets to concerts and meet some of my heroes. So I'd have to say that meeting the people has been the best part.

Girl: So is it pretty surreal at times?

Peter: Oh yeah, definitely! But at the same time, we really don't think about it all too much because now it is just work.

Girl: Would you recommend people try out for the next series of Big Brother?

Peter: Definitely, there is so much to gain from being a part of the series. While there are a few negatives, there are so many more postives.

Girl: What is next on the cards for Peter Timbs?

Peter: I don't know....we are still working on the Big Brother promotional circuit, so with Christmas coming up, I'm sure there will be a lot of opportunities there. None of us have really had the chance or the opportunity to go back to our normal jobs as we have been so busy with Big Brother commitments.

Girl: Would you like to get into the media industry?

Peter: Yeah I'd like to, but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. This is a foot in the door, so I may as well go with it if I can, that's why I have been doing a little bit of work with Channel V - this is the road I am looking to head towards, I love my music!
