Productivity Down as Hay Fever Blows into Town

With hay fever season upon us, recent studies have shown that a high pollen count severely affects productivity in the workplace, with 87 per cent of the Australian workforce claiming hay fever gets in the way of their working day.

The survey of 1007 hay fever sufferers conducted by leading pharmacy, Amcal, revealed that 30 per cent of workers feel unmotivated when they have hay fever, with a further 70 per cent of this group claiming it impacts on their concentration levels.

Andrew Robinson, Amcal pharmacist says the survey has proven very useful in identifying common habitual hindrances amongst hay fever sufferers.
'The survey has provided surprisingly high results in showing how many people's daily routines are affected when suffering from hay fever. Not only are concentration and motivation levels down, 39 per cent of all sufferers also say it makes them lethargic and low in energy (41%)."
'Despite common misconceptions, hay fever is completely manageable; it just comes down to sufferers knowing how to control their symptoms or knowing where to go for the right advice, such as speaking to Amcal about medication options," Andrew continues.

The most common complaint to come out of the survey is that hay fever leaves sufferers feeling -irritated' (67%), with -frustration' named as the second most common complaint (48%).

And if all of the other ailments weren't bad enough, 30 per cent of females who suffer hay fever say they also feel unattractive as a result of their allergies.
