If you're becoming a permanent fixture at the mall or cinema, or if the staff at your local cafe are starting to wonder if you work there too, it might be time to refresh your leisure-time activities. You needn't stop doing the things you love, but there are a few simple things you can try to spice up your social life.
Reinvent favourites
It's highly unlikely that you've never gone shopping before, but why not try a new city, or seek out some new independent boutiques, designer outlets or thrift stores? There are hidden gems to be found everywhere so it might be worth taking a wander with a girlfriend and seeing what you find! It'd make for a great blog post, too, if you have one!
The concept of dining out for entertainment is certainly nothing ground-breaking, but it could be fun to try some foreign cuisine for a change from the special at your usual restaurant. Spanish food is great for this as it's traditional to share many small dishes amongst friends – perfect for sampling new tastes. Doing this regularly is a great way to make sure you keep in contact with friends you might not see that often – decide on a different restaurant each time and make it a fortnightly or monthly occasion.
Get away
Taking a day trip or having a weekend away is a great way to escape the stresses of your daily life. If you're on a budget, it's worth looking on sites like GroupOn for offers. You can often find good deals on tranquil breaks in the country, or if you'd prefer a pampering session, there are beauty treatments and massages you can treat yourself to at some of the fantastic Spa Baths in Melbourne.
Something different
If you really want a laugh and don't mind being thrown in at the deep end, put the names of different sports (extreme if you like!) into a hat and pick one out at random. Then find a friend who'll take a lesson in the chosen sport with you – it's a win-win situation as you'll either uncover a new talent, or laugh endlessly at your lack of ability. Always fun!
