Samantha Thompson is a Geelong based artist who was born to American parents in Sydney, then growing up in the suburbs of Melbourne and often returning to the United States, exhibiting in New York as well as London. Samantha's paintings and pastels that have this year appeared in Vogue Living, Inside Out, The Saturday Age and The Art Almanac are stylised femininity that echoes the burlesque art deco era. Having lived in one of the most art deco cities in the world as a young adult; Napier in New Zealand; added to the childhood inspirations of her mother's colour matching skill as a patch work quilt maker and also art encyclopaedias featuring Picasso, Botticelli and Degas plus the images from National Geographic magazines, all developed Samantha's masterful blend of style and content.
