This year, the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show (MIFGS) will be a haven for kids. Sesame Street characters will provide daily entertainment in the children?s Garden alongside a jam-packed schedule of activities for kids of all ages.
Created by Georgeous Events for its second year, the Sesame Street Children?s Garden will also include the popular art corner, a bubble machine, face painting, an animal farm enclosure and entertainment.
Families will have the opportunity to meet Elmo, Abby Cadabby and friends every day for a few hours, or they can view them as floral creations in the Royal Exhibition Building throughout the show.
?This is the first year that Sesame Street characters have visited the Melbourne
International Flower & Garden Show. We can?t wait to see the children?s faces light up when they get to meet their heroes,? Kathleen Rushford from IMG said.
?We?re pretty sure that some of the mums and dads will be just as excited to meet their favourite Sesame Street characters as well,? she said.
The Nursery and Garden Industry Victoria (NGIV) will be holding plant potting
classes, and will supply trowels, pots and seedlings for children to present to Mum and Dad.
The NGIV will also be launching the Schools? Garden Award on Thursday 2nd April. The competition, which awards improvements made to the school environment through the active involvement of pupils, teachers and the school community, will be launched on the main stage and judged at the end of the year.
MIFGS is presented by Mighty Helpful Mitre 10 in 2009 and will be held at the heritagelisted Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens from 1st ? 5th April.
