Disney On Ice presents Treasure Trove opens in Australia on 29 May 2014 and will take audiences on a magical journey spanning 50 years of Disney animated film. From the inaugural Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, to the 50th film – Tangled, this ice skating extravaganza commemorates the legacy of Disney films with an all-new medley of Disney tales that will captivate audiences. Produced by Feld Entertainment, Disney On Ice presents Treasure Trove is opening in Perth on 29 May and travels to Adelaide, Wollongong, Newcastle, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney until 13 July.

Get lost with Rapunzel and Flynn and enter the worlds of your other favourite Disney princesses - Cinderella, Jasmine, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Mulan and Snow White. Set sail with Peter Pan, the always playful Tinker Bell and the cunning Captain Hook and his crew as they head on an adventure beyond Never Land! Trek through the wilderness and wildlife of Africa with Simba, Nala, Pumbaa and Timon as they discover the true meaning of the -Circle of Life.' Interview with Sofie Roberg

Hometown: Bollnäs, Sweden

A lover of all things active, Sofie Roberg saw something in ice skating that could give her just that. As a young girl, she wanted her chance to become a skater, but her mother said there wasn't an opportunity in their small town near Stockholm. When they finally offered a skating class in her town, seven-year-old Sofie got what she had wished for.

When asked what she has learned on the road with Disney On Ice, Sofie responds, 'A lot about myself. Life is a lot of travel and challenges. Success comes with blood, sweat and tears." While traveling may be exciting, tiring and at times a challenge, what really keeps her going is putting smiles on the faces of children all around the world. 'My favourite part of performing is seeing how excited the kids are to see their favourite characters."

Joining Feld Entertainment in 2009, Sofie has also performed in Disney On Ice presents Disney's Princess Classics. Disney On Ice presents Treasure Trove marks her debut as a principal skater with the company


Question: Can you tell us about your character in Disney On Ice presents Treasure Trove?

Sofie Roberg: I portray the role of Rapunzel from the movie, Tangled, and I absolutely love it! Rapunzel is 18 years old and is mostly known for her signature, golden blonde hair, which is around 70 feet. Rapunzel has a strong personality full of many endearing behaviours. She is defiant, kind, sweet, shy, romantic, energetic, confident, adventurous, creative, funny and child-like.


Question: What are you enjoying most about playing the role of Rapunzel?

Sofie Roberg: I really enjoy that she is such a popular character and so many kids are so excited to see Rapunzel and likes to dress up like her, it makes me smile. I also like that she has many behaviours so every show I can find something that matches my own mood.


Question: What qualities do you share with the character of Rapunzel?

Sofie Roberg: I think we share quite a few qualities. I am kind, defiant, adventurous, romantic and sometimes shy and child-like just like Rapunzel.


Question: Can you tell us about your costumes?

Sofie Roberg: The costumes are amazing; they make the show look great. It so much effort put into the design of the costumes that all the characters look like real, so impressive!


Question: What's it like working with Matvey Matveev (Flynn Rider)?

Sofie Roberg: I love working with Matvey Matveev. It is so amazing that I got to work with my boyfriend and share this wonderful job we have together. Both of us are very hard working people and always trying to improve ourselves. Even if we have played the roles of Rapunzel and Flynn for 2 years now we always find things that can be better every show. Matvey is the one acting coach in our relationship and sometimes he can be really tuff, (he is Russian and they are known for that). Matvey is perfectionist and always wants everything to be perfect. Sometimes when I don't do what he wants me to do he gets mad. But it gets over easily and he has easy to laugh which is good for our relationship. He can also be very supportive and helps me thru hard times. I know one thing; he does it all for our best and we would not be where we are today if it wasn't for him. I am very thankful for all the time he spends with me on the ice to help me become a better skater and actor. Matvey is always very funny and play the role of Flynn Rider great. Every show he makes me laugh.


Question: What originally inspired you to begin ice skating?

Sofie Roberg: I am not sure and no one really knows. I was asking my mum to begin ice-skating as a young child and she don't know where I got that idea from. I just knew I wanted to figure skate and I love that is all came from myself. No one ever pushed me, it has always been true love with the sport since the beginning.


Question: How does skating make you feel?

Sofie Roberg: Great! I love the feeling of gliding on the ice and feel the wind in my hair. It is an amazing feeling being high up in the air when we do lifts and pair-skating makes me feel very "cool". I just think it is so impressive and it makes me feel so happy and grateful that I get paid to skate that is so much fun. I love that there is so many different things you can do when skating like jumping, spinning, lifts and just glide around. It makes me feel light and get me in a good shape.


Question: Can you talk about how you prepare for a show such as Disney On Ice presents Treasure Trove?

Sofie Roberg: We always have principal ice before the show starts where me and my partner/boyfriend Matvey Matvey skate together to get to know the ice and warm-up for the show. We go thru our number to make sure we are ready for the show. Then I make sure I eat good food about 1-1,5 hours before the show combined with a cup of coffee to wake up. Then we all have a 15 minutes warm-up together on the floor which I'm using well. I need to be warm in my entire body and stretches very well so I can show my flexibility and prevent injuries, I also like to do some exercises so I'm awake and ready to go.


Question: What do you enjoy most about travelling with Disney On Ice?

Sofie Roberg: One thing that I enjoy the most about traveling with Disney On Ice is that I get to travel and see the world and at the same time have an amazing job that I just love so much! We always stay at very nice hotels and they take very well care of us so it just makes life on the road so much easier. I like that we can live celebrity life and still be anonymous. We can have vacation and explore new places a couple days a week and still have a normal life with job and all the routines with that. I just love that combination that traveling with Disney On Ice gives me.
