Downtown New York native and swiftly rising pop artist Sophia Messa has released her sophomore single, "offyourface".
Billboard lauded the single for being an "easy-breezy tune that seems to roll right off the tongue" and for Sophia's "rich voice." Co-written by Amy Allen, (Halsey's "Without Me", Selena Gomez "Back To You") "offyourface" is the latest incarnation of Sophia's subtly dark, left-of-center pop sound, highlighted by flawless vocals, honest song writing and irresistibly enjoyable hooks.
Of the song, Sophia shared, "'offyourface' is about jumping into a relationship – maybe a bit too quickly – but it also celebrates going with your gut when entering new relationships and the idea of going after what you want. Most importantly, I want my fans to tie the song into their own lives, and interpret it for whatever it means to them."
The 19-year-old singer-songwriter is a force to be reckoned with, exuding confidence and candour while being one of the most qualified new acts in the game. Born and raised in New York, Sophia grew up in the arms of lower Manhattan, and is a first generation American, born to self-made immigrant parents (she is a dual citizen of Brazil and the US).
Sophia attended The Professional Performing Arts School (home to Alicia Keys) for middle and high school where she was classically trained in vocal performance and opera. Inspired by the world around her, she began writing original music in high school and recorded demos at a studio across the street from her apartment. During her senior year, she was accepted into The Berklee College of Music. At just three weeks in, Sophia signed a record deal and headed back to New York to launch her career. Sophia released her debut single "moneydontfixlonely" earlier this year.
"offyourface" is available everyone now, with the official video to come soon.
