Following the release of 'The Bliss' last week, South Summit have received feature album honours from triple J for their debut record all this week. Not showing any signs of slowing down - the band have also announced a string of tour dates in the UK for 2025, and have released the music video for 'The Bliss' focus track 'Exceptional'.
It's been a big year for the WA 5-piece; performing on triple J's Like A Version back in October; playing shows all across Australia and beyond, including a support tour with The Cat Empire across Europe and festival appearances at Vivid, Big Pineapple Festival, Blues At Bridgetown and more; announcing their biggest headline tour for Australia and New Zealand for February 2025; and now the release of their highly anticipated debut album 'The Bliss'.
The album, which will be the feature album on triple J all this week, features 12 tracks of Reggae-infused indie rock that perfectly encapsulates the band's wide-ranging influences and air-tight song writing abilities.
With 'The Bliss' being South Summit's first studio record, the impact of this album as being a statement of intent from the group was not lost on the band. From album opener 'Take Me Down', to the pop-flecked standout 'Catacombs' and decadent moments of pure jamming in 'Holy Cascade' & 'We Are The Lions', this is an album that is unafraid to level up and take South Summit outside their comfort zone.
The album's focus track 'Exceptional' has been paired with some stunning visuals provided by frequent collaborators Cedric Tang & Tavian Ord (both of whom have worked on all of the music videos for 'The Bliss'). The video features the band grooving to their latest single under the night sky and seemingly having the time of their lives - which is fitting given their monumental year in 2024.
"Creating the Exceptional music video was such a fun experience! We filmed it all in one night, which brought this intense, electric energy to the shoot that really matches the song. Plus, we got to bring in a super cool car that added a whole new layer to the visuals. Huge thanks to the incredible crew who made our vision come to life." SOUTH SUMMIT
To cap things off, the band have announced tour dates for the UK in 2025 - following the announcement of The Great Escape lineup last week. The band will be heading to the music conference from 14th of May, before playing their first UK headline shows in Cornwall, London and Manchester.
