Following the release of 'Vanilla Sigh' released back in August, Strange Talk continue to build on their strong discography with another irresistible, hook filled track on 'Luna'. A relatively sharp turn from the electro-pop stylings found on 'Vanilla Sigh', the band comment that 'Luna' is "our rendition of 'punk/indie' style guitars and instrumentation" - not sonically dissimilar to Teenage Dads or Vacations. 'Luna' is a track that demands a replay immediately after it finishes; the vocals here are impossibly catchy, with layers of ear-worm melodies scattered throughout the track and a bright, dynamic instrumental that elevates each chorus 10-fold.
Lyrically the track is written with a movie plot in-mind, detailing a character trying to escape a manipulative relationship.
"The central theme of "Luna" revolves around a young woman trapped in a toxic relationship. The song's protagonist finds herself used and manipulated by someone who has led her to a dark place, both emotionally and mentally. The chorus refrain of "Run, run," echoes this sense of urgency and escape, urging her to break free from the destructive relationship and never look back." STRANGE TALK
The EP was written during an extensive trip the band took throughout Stockholm, London and Tokyo - with each track drawing from their inspiring journey. "Luna is more than just an EP; it's a sonic postcard of our travels, the people we met, and the musical landscapes that shaped us this past year" says Gerard Sidhu. 'Luna' was written during their time spent in Stockholm, along with talented writers/producers Ludwig Westby & Eila Lardner.
The band reflect on their time in Stockholm, stating that "writing in such a collaborative environment allowed us to explore new ideas and refine the sound we were aiming for. The Stockholm session brought an additional layer of polish and creativity to the song, enhancing its indie-pop charm while adding subtle layers of emotional depth."
