Study & Play USA is an organisation which allows young people to look beyond the big picture, beyond the walls of University. They offer a US College pathway which allows gifted and talented student-athletes a chance to reach their goals and dreams while training with some of the best coaches in the world.

They coordinate the crucial communication between the colleges, the coaches and the athletes, and help organise scholarships to cover the costs of students' education and training in America.

In their experience, there are six reasons why a well-informed young person could take advantage of the opportunity to study in a US college.

Study and Sport Balance

Where else in the world can a student study full-time while pursuing their athletic dreams? American colleges are designed for full-time students who want to launch professional athletic careers. The academic staff are aware of the athlete's competition schedule, and the college coaches are aware of the athlete's grades and academic progress. In most cases, the academic demands provide a welcome diversion from the athletic ones, and vice versa, enabling athletes to excel in both the classroom and on the sporting field.

International Networking

The majority of colleges in the US are diversifying by increasing international student enrolments. This allows Australian students to take advantage of more opportunities. Not only are teenagers from around the world moving to the US for their college experience, and being made to feel welcome, they are also rubbing shoulders with other international students who are in the same position. With over 4500 Colleges in the USA, competition is hot for enrolments. The demand for varied course offerings from within each institution means that the US has more diversity of undergraduate and graduate programs than anywhere else in the world. Better still, the US college system allows for delayed major declaration, taking the pressure off new students.

The Travel Experience

The fifth, and perhaps most exciting opportunity, which is made possible with the Study & Play USA scholarships – is the travel experience. At end of their experience with Study & Play USA, students are asked to fill in a questionnaire to summarise their college journey. One recently returned student listed -the travel experience' as the number one benefit to him from his four years abroad. He then sent a picture of a map with pins inserted into the various US states that he had travelled to in that time as part of his athletic team. The fact that this travel, plus accommodation and food expenses, was all covered by his Study & Play USA scholarship astounded him. What better way for curious young athletes to travel in their youth and have it paid for?

Employability- The Big Picture

At the end of their course, when they have completed all of their requirements and earned their degree, students can enjoy a brighter future with a boost to their employability. Thousands of international students are taking up the US Government's offer of a one year working visa after graduation from US colleges. Imagine returning to your home country, aged 22, having graduated with the degree of a lifetime, having lived in another country, travelling at no expense across North America playing the sport that you love, equipped with a year of international work experience. Your employability would be off the charts.

The US college pathway allows students to become -pile toppers' by sending them straight to the top of the pile of applicants.
