Sydney Rides Festival Finale

Sydney Rides Festival Finale

Spooks and Spokes to Light the City

Sydney Harbour will be transformed into a spook-tacular Halloween party for the Sydney Rides Festival finale.

Light the City will see Mrs Macquaries Road become a one-night-only, illuminated traffic-free zone on Saturday 28 October, for people to enjoy on foot or by bike between 6pm and 11pm.

This year's event will feature special Halloween surprises including a zombie dance and roaming entertainers. Sydneysiders are invited to get into the spirit by decorating their bikes and dressing up.

Bike hire will be available on the night, and those who prefer to walk can follow the spectacular harbour loop, featuring a rainbow light path.

'This is a very special opportunity to experience Sydney in a new light. Mrs Macquaries Road will be closed to cars, and people will be able to walk or ride through an incredible show of lasers, lights and colours," Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.

'Light The City is a chance to spend an evening with family and friends, get outdoors, get active and experience our spectacular harbour foreshore at twilight."

The family-friendly event will also feature an open air outdoor lounge and gourmet food trucks.

Friends can challenge one another on the roller racing stage, capture their most ghoulish poses with an Instagram printer, or show off their best Thriller moves in the glitter ball arena or at the silent disco.

2017 marks 200 years since the invention of the bicycle by German inventor Karl Drais and the seventh annual Sydney Rides Festival by the City of Sydney.

Throughout October, the Festival has been celebrating all things two-wheeled, including chocolate and foodie rides, speed dating by bike, an open-air photography exhibition at Paddington Reservoir Gardens and Sydney's biggest pop-up adventure playground in Sydney Park.
