Want a fitness workout that requires you to have fun? Well this month GIRL takes a closer look at the new wave of fitness currently sweeping the globe.
TAE-BO is the latest fitness craze sweeping the globe. It is an exercise that involves a combination of boxing and martial arts moves. Hooks, jabs, punches and kicks are common techniques amongst the Tae-Bo repertoire.
Movements are choreographed to music creating an aerobic workout. The overall aim is to gain complete control over your movements, which requires an incredible amount of balance and coordination. Now you can improve your fitness and just as importantly, have lots of fun in the process!
Tae-Bo was created and developed by Billy Banks - dominant martial artist of the 80s, a world- renowned star of martial arts films and one of the top physical trainers in the United States today. The concept of this New Age exercise stemmed from his personal training regime at home where he began to combine dance music with his Tae-Kwon-Do moves, which later evolved into Tae-Bo. Wanting to share this newfound exercise with others, Banks opened the World Training Centre in Sherman Oaks, California in 1989.
So just who can participate in this new wave of fitness? Unlike some physical activities, Tae-Bo is not restricted to a select group of people.
These days people from the age of seven through to ninety-seven are punching and kicking their way to fitness goals they once thought were out of their reach. The beauty of Tae-Bo, apart from the obvious physical benefits, is that people of all shapes and sizes can partake and in a fun and comfortable environment.
Tae-Bo was originally designed with the vision that anybody would be able to participate and derive some benefit from the great workout sessions people all over the world personally guarantee it will deliver.
But remember, before undertaking any strenuous exercise; always seek the approval of your health care professional.
