Tasmanian Heritage Deep Blue, a premium blue vein cheese, has claimed the Gold Medal in the Blue Vein category at the prestigious Australian Specialty Cheesemakers Association (ASCA) Show on 21 May 2005.
At the recent ASCA's gala dinner in Sydney, Tasmanian Heritage Deep Blue outshone all competing brands to claim the title of Australia's leading blue vein cheese because of it's unique and tangy flavour.
"We are very proud of the hard work and precision that goes into producing our speciality cheeses," says Nicole Tyquin, Tasmanian Heritage Senior Brand Manager. "Winning the ASCA gold medal during our golden anniversary year makes this accolade even more special to us."
With its lightly crumbly yet smooth texture, Tasmanian Heritages Deep Blue's flavour improves with age and softens as it reaches maturity. At the end of the aging process, the speciality cheese boasts a light and creamy consistency and is bursting with flavour.
Made entirely from Australia's finest produce, the quality of the Tasmanian Heritage brand is widely acknowledged by consumers and has won numerous other major national awards for its outstanding taste and excellence, such as Champion White Mould Cheese at the 2005 Australian Grand Dairy Awards.
Not only does Tasmanian Heritage Deep Blue taste great as part of a cheese platter or on fresh crusty bread, its crumbly characteristics and robust flavour lends itself beautifully to being crumbled over salads and pastas. The blue vein cheese also blends well into sauces and is the perfect ingredient to enhance any recipe.
For the perfect cheese partner, Tasmanian Heritage Deep Blue can be complemented with fresh pear, peach, slithers of apple and crusty raisin bread - fresh or toasted. Try matching full-bodied late picked resiling, port or Muscat. The sweet flavours of the accompaniments compliment the salty and tangy characteristics of the cheese.
Tasmanian Heritage Deep Blue can be found in a convenient 140g pack at most major supermarkets. The speciality cheese is also available cut to order from the wheel at selected delicatessens.
