Teletubbies celebrate 10 years of bouncing, laughing and fun!

The Teletubbies are bouncing back into Australian homes everywhere soon, when they reunite to celebrate 10 years of magical preschool learning fun!

Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po will continue to capture the imaginations of Australian preschool children when the hugely successful program reappears on ABC TV.

And the party doesn't stop there. Now children can stay tuned to their favourite Teletubbies with the launch of the 10th Anniversary Happy Birthday DVD and new range of Teletubbies Soft Toys, enabling them to relive the magic over and over again!

Teletubbies is one of BBC Worldwide's most successful global brands, changing the children's market forever when it launched in 1997. Until then, no other television program had been specifically designed with the youngest audiences in mind.

Teletubbies enchanted children immediately through singing, dancing and fun! However the concept was initially foreign to adults, looking and sounding dramatically different to anything seen before.


The persona of the characters was specifically developed with the youngest audience in mind. Co-creators of the program Anne Wood and Andrew Davenport called upon their expertise in education and speech sciences to develop the language of the Teletubbies.

After undertaking extensive research into how children develop their cognitive and speech skills and their television viewing habits, Anne and Andrew found that small children absorb more information from listening to other children than from grown ups.

The Teletubbies' 'baby-like' appearance encourages children to relate to them, finding their attempts to speak amusing. This gives young viewers the confidence to join in, making coordination and learning fun and in an environment children can understand.

The Teletubbies' emphasis on rhythm and repetition also assists with the early learning goals for children aged 2-4 years which include balance, coordination, strength, direction, creativity and rhythm.

The colourful soft toys range set to bounce into stores from September includes an array of cuddly Teletubby soft toy characters and interactive toys to keep children amused long after their favourite episode has ended.

And if that's not enough, the release of the 10th Anniversary DVD containing a collection of five of the best episodes and ten Teletubbies moments, means children can relive the magic at their leisure, over and over again!

Both parents and grandparents can rest assured that they're providing their children with the essential tools they need to develop and grow - and all whilst having loads of fun with the Teletubbies!
