Telstra Netball Hero Award

Australian Diamond netball superstar, Kimberlee Green, is teaming up with Telstra to recognise and reward Australia's netball heroes through the inaugural Telstra Netball Hero award.

A Telstra Netball Hero is someone who dedicates their time and energy to provide support and expertise for the game at a community level.

They may be a coach, umpire, score keeper, a person who tends to injuries or a dedicated volunteer who is  courtside at every match, supporting the players.

Kimberlee nominated her own mum, Denise, as her Telstra Netball Hero and is calling on local residents to nominate someone in their community who has encouraged and supported their netball journey.

'I started playing netball at a young age, so mum played a massive role in supporting me in my training, driving me to matches and providing the encouragement I needed to play at a representative level," said Kimberlee.

'Mum's success as an Olympic swimmer gave me the inspiration and drive to succeed in my sporting endeavors and she was always there to provide the emotional support which is so important."

Kimberlee's close bond with her mother and their netball story can be viewed online, at www.facebook.com/telstranetball
