Freedom Kitchens is proud to announce that it will soon be returning to TV screens as the exclusive kitchen and laundry supplier for The Block 2018, ready to take on the biggest challenge yet with the renovation of The Gatwick hotel.
As a St Kilda hotel that started life with a grand status but has since fallen from grace, The Gatwick is an iconic building full of potential as a residential building – but is also bound to present a bevy of renovation problems. Being located in one of Melbourne's most famous postcodes, surrounded by famous landmarks such as Luna Park, the Palais theatre, the cultural hub of Acland Street, and just minutes away from the beach, means that this run-down eyesore is worth converting into hot property.
Freedom Kitchens promises to impress audiences by taking on every kitchen and laundry obstacle as they help to execute the contestants' design plans. Along the way, the spaces will showcase the latest in exciting design trends and inspire millions of Australians with fresh ideas for their own homes.
"Freedom Kitchens has enjoyed a long standing partnership as a supplier to The Block since the show began, and we're excited to continue the on-screen and off-screen adventures in 2018," says Tracy Smedley, Director of Marketing at Freedom Kitchens.
"Each season presents new challenges not only for the contestants, but also the suppliers, and The Gatwick is no exception. Kitchen Week and Laundry Week require us to draw upon skills and resources across our business along with our chosen appliance partner BSH and Caesarstone, to keep delivering kitchen and laundry spaces that inspire the judges and audience alike – and ultimately help sell – the finished apartments. "
As the exclusive supplier of home appliances for The Block kitchens and laundries in 2018, BSH will use the opportunity to enhance each kitchen and laundry space with state of the art appliances from their premium brands Bosch, NEFF, Siemens and Gaggenau. Providing outstanding design and leading innovations in appliances, each brand has a distinct design ethos and caters for various target markets, which is a great fit for the different styles of design we can expect from the couples on The Block.
Caesarstone® has also re-joined forces with Freedom Kitchens to showcase an exciting new colour range which has been airfreighted in especially for The Block. These apartments will be the very first in Australia to feature stunning new designs for 2018– all destined to be a huge hit in benchtops.
The five new teams that will be competing to design winning kitchens and laundries are:
Bianca (36) and Carla (35), netballing besties from Melbourne, VIC
Kerrie (49) and Spence (47), married couple from the Barossa Valley, SA
Sara (31) and Hayden (45), newlywed parents from The Shire, NSW
Hans (37) and Courtney (33), loved-up couple from Perth, WA
Norm (40) and Jess (33), engaged parents from the Sunshine Coast, QLD
Scott Cam will once again be joined by co-host Shelley Craft, along with judges Neale Whitaker, Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer, "The Blockinator", foreman Keith Schleiger, and his right-hand man, Dan Reilly.
The award-winning juggernaut that is The Block continues to be Australia's most popular renovation series, and last year's results confirmed it is also Australia's richest reality show, taking total prizemoney across 13 seasons to a whopping $18,895,501.
The Block returns to Channel Nine and 9Now this Sunday, August 5, at 7.00pm.
