Spectacular fireworks displays are set to light up the sky in Docklands again this winter, as part of the City of Melbourne's Docklands Winter Festival - Fireworks program.
Starting tomorrow, free family entertainment will brighten up New Quay Promenade every Friday night throughout July and August from 6:30pm, before a fireworks display dazzles crowds at 7:30pm.
The family friendly evening will feature various performances for all ages, and workshops including the First Friday Dance Club and the interactive -Curious Game'.
Councillor Beverley Pinder-Mortimer, Chair of Council's Marketing portfolio, said the Docklands Fireworks program was designed to invigorate the precinct during the quieter winter months.
'With free entertainment and fireworks every Friday night, we are encouraging everyone to rally friends and family and visit one of the many Docklands waterfront restaurants or bars for prime viewing," Cr Pinder-Mortimer said.
'The Docklands Winter Fireworks program has been a huge success in previous years, with up to 2,500 people flocking into New Quay on Friday nights to make the most of the entertainment.
'While many cities go into hibernation during winter, Melbourne truly puts on a show like no other."
