Whether it's melted raclette, a cup of hot spiced rum, Nutella crepes, or incredible live music performances, Melburnians will be spoilt for choice on ways to warm up this winter as The European Night Market returns every Friday in July from 5pm until 9pm.
Paying homage to the winter markets synonymous with European towns in Germany, France, Spain and Italy, the European Night Market will transform Madame Brussels Lane into a heaving culinary hub complete with cauldrons of mulled wine and piping cups of hot spiced rum.
Expect to be transported to the finest European hotspots – a stop in Italy with Nutella stuffed doughnuts, arancini balls and authentic pasta from Café Babbo, as well as crisp pastries from Eat Cannoli. French classics will be served up by Pop Up Crepe alongside a plethora of sweet macarons from Degani (think Nutella roché, or white chocolate – to name but few), while Frencheese serves bowls of oozing, melted raclette. Expect juicy German sausages from Bavarian Bangers, salty hand rolled Bavarian breztels from Bretzel Biz and handmade Polish dumplings from Pierogi Pierogi.
If there's one thing predicted to get cityworkers clocking out at 5pm, it's the smell of Elena's Paella wafting down the laneway, along with an array of Turkish dips and gözleme from Göz City and Chooh La La's hot candied (and vegan) nuts. This year also sees the addition of Richmond Hill Café & Larder whose fromagerie will be selling French onion soup and cheese boards to take home.
In addition to live musical entertainment, the laneway's own Cobbler DJ (from The Cobbler's Last) will be spinning decks and shining shoes late into the night. Visitors can also enjoy tastings from a soon-to-be to be announced local distillery, discounted cuts from the Men's Barber Shop and update their winter wardrobe with scarves, beanies and gloves from Melbourne retailer Spoilt.
Don't miss: Custom created light installations by Electric Confetti and local artist (and Katy Perry favourite) Carla O'Brien, perfect for that late night selfie.
