The Fallen Vampire: Bela Lugosi tells the story of one of the legendary actors of 1930s Hollywood, Bela Lugosi, who created the unique character of Dracula on screen. The film follows the story of his life, from his birth in a small town in Transylvania, close to the turn of the century, to his days as an actor playing Jesus at the Hungarian National Theatre in Budapest. It recounts his time as a communist who had to flee Hungary, and his subsequent persecution - and blacklisting - by the McCarthy witch hunts for his political views.
