Come on a journey with a French shepherd and his wise-cracking dog as they set out to transform a barren wasteland into a thriving forest - and nothing is going to stop them!

After touring internationally including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Scotland's Puppet State Theatre will make its Australian debut at Sydney Opera House this month with the hugely successful adaption of Jean Giono's classic environmental tale The Man Who Planted Trees.

A unique blend of comedy, puppetry and inspiring storytelling, the story spans many years. In order to build the forest the characters face a number of hurdles including two world wars and ruthless developers. The determined shepherd and his loyal dog (who likes to tell funny stories) prove that each and every one of us can make a difference to the world.

Two puppeteers, Richard Medrington and Rick Conte each play multiple characters and work their magic on stage with the help of Ailie Cohen's simple but very effective set design and direction.
