Theresa Rex Like I Love You Interview

Theresa Rex Like I Love You Interview

From Solo Dance to Like I Love You

With a vocal recognisable for most people, though currently a rather unknown name to many, Danish rising star Theresa Rex releases her second single 'Like I Love You', following up on the successful collaboration with the UK hitmaker, Jonas Blue.

Few new artists with only 3 tracks can claim more than 600+ million streams, worldwide chart rankings and several gold and platinum certifications. But Theresa Rex can. Her highly charismatic and expressive vocal has within a short time attracted collaborations with international DJ-producers, and positioned her as an interesting and promising artist, worth keeping an eye on.

Theresa Rex's second single in her own name, 'Like I Love You', is a charming and warm pop song about taking the time to appreciate your love, even when it's not a new one. Supported by an extremely catchy production with a hint of a natural acoustic sound, Theresa captures these feelings in an emphatic and charming manor.

The story about Theresa Rex is in no way traditional. One day while jamming gypsy-jazz at the local town square, she got scouted and asked to do the vocals for Martin Jensen's single, 'Solo Dance'. The song turned out to be a massive hit reaching charts and several hundred million of streams all over the world. Curious about exploring her own musical ability as a pop artist, Theresa started pursing her own commercial sound, resulting in the release of the debut single, 'Wild Ones'. Lately her collaboration with Jonas Blue made Theresa's voice and name reach the charts once again.

'Like I Love You' is out now on Central Station Records.

Interview with Theresa Rex

Question: Congratulations on the success of Like I Love You; what inspired you to create this track?

Theresa Rex: Thank you. I'm in a VERY long-term relationship. In many ways it's a lot different than new love, because you know each other's wants and needs so well. It's so precious and it needed to be celebrated with a song.

Question: What motivates you most when writing music?

Theresa Rex: Words! Sometimes I randomly think of a good sentence and then I want to build a song around it or a good story that needs to be sung.

Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?

Theresa Rex: Just stumbled over 'Still Woozy' and I cannot get enough.

Also I'm in girl-punk-phase so I'm consuming my share of Patti Smith, The Runaways and X-Ray Spex

Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Theresa Rex: My music lover parents have exposed me to all kinds of old-school music. This gave me some great inspirations in awesome ladies like Billie Holliday, Janis Joplin, Debbie Harry and many more who got to be awesome and strong and kick some ass!

Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Theresa Rex: Oh my wishlist is long, I have a little music crush on Stormzy at the moment, I think we would sound great together.

Question: What's a typical day like?

Theresa Rex: I actually study, so it's pretty full.
Feed the cats, pet the cats, off to school. After that; music stuff, like just replying to hundreds of emails, or off to the studio to record, or write, and then I'll be pretty bombed and go to bed and pet the cats again.

Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

Theresa Rex: Getting too share everything I create with the world, and getting such a positive response, it's an awesome feeling!

Question: What was it like working with Jonas Blue and Martin Jensen?

Theresa Rex: So much fun! We are all such different people and artists so it's so hard to predict what the outcome will be. But I think it turned out great in both cases.

Martin is just a ball off fun. I love how Solo Dance turned out, and I think its save to say that a lot of other people did as well!

Jonas Blue is just the nicest chilliest dude, so making What I Like About You, was such a blast.

Question: Can you share your socials?

Theresa Rex: @TheresaRexMusic
@theresarexmusic

Question: What's next, for you?

Theresa Rex: I'm putting the final touches on a few things, so you'll see! I'll definitely keep working, and hopefully do some more collaborations!
