LA-born - Melbourne-based artist Vali Woods returns with a seductive offering 'Flirt' available on all streaming platforms on October 11th. The new single touches on multiple themes such as unrequited love and vulnerability. Woods hopes that the single will assist in her climb to mainstream success and highlight attention on female artists in HipHop.

With modern trap production infused with 90's RnB/HipHop by the way of producer Anoesis, 'Flirt' divulges Woods' lyrical prowess and doesn't beat around the bush when it comes to getting what she wants. Being in control and unapologetic of her own sexuality, Woods is positioned to be the voice for all female artists making their mark in hip hop history.

Inspired by the likes of Tinashe, Sade, Teyana Taylor, and Cardi B, Vali Woods is well on the rise with over 100,000 YouTube views on her first single 'Lil Rebel' as well as over 100,000 streams on her Spotify.

Building and strengthening her network in LA as well as building a loyal following back in Australia, Vali Wood's plans to overtake her peers with a vault full of unreleased material and captivating shows across her current city of Melbourne by the end of 2019.

Interview with Vali Woods

Question: How would you describe your music?

Vali Woods: My music is a unique combination of R&B/Hip-Hop with both alternative and commercial elements. I write all my music from my genuine life experiences and I hope to relate to people all over the world in this way.


Question: Can you tell us about Flirt?

Vali Woods: Flirt is a fun, sassy and vibey track which has old school hip-hop elements, with some r&b and a modern twist on it. It's a female anthem!


Question: What inspired the track?

Vali Woods: I wrote Flirt about a guy I wanted to date seriously, and even though he didn't treat me right, I made the most of the situation by having fun with it by doing my thing (being a flirt).



Question: Do you prefer performing live or recording?

Vali Woods: I prefer recording, I love being in the studio so much. It's my happy place where I feel the most free to sing and create.


Question: Which is your favourite song to perform live and why?

Vali Woods: My favourite song to perform live is 'Temptation', a song from my First EP, because lots of people get hyped to sing along with me.


Question: If you could have anyone, in the world, attend a show, who would it be?

Vali Woods: I'd have one of the artists that I admire most attend (Drake, The Weeknd, Tinashe, Nicki Minaj) because it would be an honour to perform for them and I'd want their feedback on my performance.


Question: What motivates you most when writing music?

Vali Woods: What motivates me the most when writing is being able to tell my story in a way that is relatable to the world? I also just love to create a vibe, something that makes people feel a certain type of way.


Question: Which music/artists are you currently listening to?

Vali Woods: Summer Walker, Ari Lennox and Travis Scott


Question: What or who was your inspiration to go into the music industry?

Vali Woods: My inspiration was my dad. I grew up watching him play guitar and write songs.


Question: If you could collaborate with another artist, who would it be?

Vali Woods: I'd love to collaborate with Drake or Cardi B.


Question: What's a typical day like?

Vali Woods: A typical day involves exercise (yoga or gym or walking outdoors), work (either working on music in the studio or going to my day jobs), watching TV or inspirational videos/reading, spending time with friends and family. Also, cooking and eating healthy nutritious food.


Question: What has been your favourite part of becoming a music artist?

Vali Woods: My favourite part of becoming a music artist is my sense of freedom. I feel limitless in being able to express myself through music and visuals. I have this alter ego that I can funnel energy through...
