For those seeking for a low-speed, high-fun adventure exploring dirt roads on a trusty postie bike, look no further than The Variety Good Guys Postie Bike Dash.
Starting on 1st November 2015 in Newcastle, this six day journey through rural NSW is rolling toward its second year to raise money for Variety – the Children's Charity to help Aussie kids who are sick, disadvantaged, or have special needs.
Participants will don their high-vis vests and helmets with pride and take to dirt and forestry tracks, gravel back roads and country by-roads starting and concluding in Newcastle from Sunday 1st November to Friday 6th November through Tamworth, Narrabri, Coonamble, Gulgong and Denman. The ride will start at Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club Hannell Street Wickham, at 9:00am on Sunday 1st November with breakfast for riders from 7.30am.
The pre-requisite for a Dasher is to own (beg, borrow or steal) a standard Honda CT110 Postie Bike and be over the age of 18 years with a good heart, a spirit for adventure and a tolerance for discomfort. This event is not a race or a rally, but rather a group of adventure-seeking folk exploring isolated areas of NSW for a worthy cause.
Variety is aiming to raise $60,000 and participants are asked to fundraise a minimum of $2,000. Exceptional fundraisers will be rewarded with a prestigious Postie Bike Dash Trophy.
There will be a baggage vehicle to transport luggage and the Dashers will enjoy overnight stops in towns with access to quality accommodation and meals. Family and friends are welcome to join for meals with advanced notification.
This is a boutique event limited to 30 riders, with a -first in best dressed' policy. Registration includes an initial $500 to register, $450 for meals, and a minimum of $1,500 to be fundraised for Variety – the Children's Charity by the event date.
