SPRING / SUMMER COLLECTION SHOW AT MAFWVicious Threads, Melbourne's breakthrough designer streetwear label is celebrating its first birthday at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week this May 2003. The renowned new kid on the fashion block will be showcasing their new Spring / Summer range, a.k.a. Volume 4 of the Gold Needle Collection, on Tuesday May 6th at the Cargo Hall.
The much anticipated show is another notch in the milestone belt of the well-dressed label that has recently been embraced by David Jones, and is a showcase of what the label does best - design great gear. Sweeping all hype and accolades of their November 2002 collection aside (if you haven't seen the press you haven't been looking in the right pages), Vicious Threads prepare to shake up the fashion world once more.
Upping the volume on their Autumn / Winter Collection Show, last November, Vicious Threads will be dressing the darlings of Australia's celebrity world and reveling in a Hollywood-esque theme. Glass of chardy anyone? While remaining tight-lipped about specific names, the show will go on in true Vicious style this inaugural MAFW.
In tune with the label's underlying philosophies, the new collection will feature innovative influences from the music and entertainment industries, this time exploring the Beautiful Things in Life. References to nature feature passionately throughout the range, expressed in creatively positioned prints and stunning embroidery.
Ensuring that no two pieces are ever alike, Vicious Threads continue to play with signature hand treatments throughout this range. While remaining true to streetwear heritage, the label has also allowed a new tailored twist to seep into their style. Designer Ivan Gomez views this as a natural progression of the label, and says the tailored angle is another intriguing direction in which to drive his creations.
Moving up in the world also means playing with the big boys, and Vicious Threads are extremely pleased to have on board influential sponsors for the May collection: Vodafone, MAC, Redken and adidas. Australia's most prominent stylist, Michael Angel, has also come on board, exclusively with Vicious Threads, in the capacity of Creative Director.
Enthusiastic about their participation in the Spring Summer MAFW, Vicious Threads are eager to parade their wares on influential celebrity bodies for the eyes of influential fashion bodies.
Remaining true to the goal of developing a truly international fashion identity, focus this time is on expanding current overseas representation throughout key boutiques in the UK, Japan, Hong Kong, LA, Netherlands.
