I've got a bulging wardrobe and nothing to wear!
How many times have you woken up late, staggered to your bulging wardrobe and not been able to find a single thing to wear?? It's time to clean out your wardrobe, baby!
Start by removing absolutely everything. Sift through the garments removing anything requiring maintenance. Sew on missing buttons, re-stitch falling hems and put everything requiring professional attention aside.
Throw away every item that truly has seen better days. Stained t-shirts, clothes with holes and things that are too small HAVE to go. If you have garments that are essentially a great fit or in a gorgeous fabric, but are too long, short or loose, consider having them altered to make them wearable.
If you have bought expensive trendy items that are now out of fashion, you can earn extra cash by selling them to second hand shops. If you cannot bear to part with them, wash the garments, fold them neatly and store them away until they come back into fashion.
Discard all icky metal hangers from the drycleaner. These don't allow clothes to hang correctly and can also catch on delicate items. Re-hang your clothes on plastic or wooden hangers, ensuring top buttons are done up, and items are hanging straight on hangers to avoid creasing.
Organise your wardrobe to make choosing your outfit each day easier. Hang clothes according to season, colour or occasion. Never ever hang knits (this stretches necklines and shoulders), instead fold in a draw - we all know baggy necks are not a good look!
If you've a shoe collection Imelda Marcos would die for, be brutal. Anything worn out (that cannot be repaired) needs turfing. Shoes you bought in a sale because they were a terrific bargain but are a crippling half size too small have gotta go too!
If you are stuck for storage space, shoeboxes are ideal for storing folded scarves, purses, belts and other accessories. You can also stack them on top of each other.
Avoid fashion faux pas and wasting your hard earned cash by investing in classic pieces that don't date. You can update the look season to season with groovy accessories, without blowing your budget.
