Curated by Alessio Cavallaro and Tyler Cann. Presented by the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in collaboration with the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery (New Plymouth, New Zealand), and with the support of the Len Lye Foundation and the New Zealand Film Archive.

Discover the art of Len Lye (1901 - 1980), one of the most radical creative minds of the modern age. This unforgettably exuberant exhibition surveys his work across film, sculpture, painting, poetry and more. Exploding with kaleidoscopic colour and pulsing with rhythmic beats, the exhibition is the largest survey of Len Lye's work ever presented.

New Zealand-born Len Lye is a seminal figure in the history of the moving image. In his early twenties, Lye travelled throughout the South Pacific, and lived for extended periods in Australia and Samoa. Moving to London in the 1920s, and then New York in the 1940s, Len Lye's career unfolded amidst avant garde modernism on the international stage.

The girl-next-door wins a beauty pageant, moves to New York, gets drunk once, contracts syphilis and ends up in a burlesque show rather than go home disgraced. Hmmm . women as the agents of their own and others' demise - gee, there's a twist!

Melbourne is home to some of the best graffiti artists in the world. Laneways across the city have been encrusted with street art and they've become popular backdrops for wedding photographs, international backpackers, even tourism campaigns. Furthering the debate are filmmakers Romain Levrault and Julien Sena and their recent snapshot of the current graffiti landscape with interviews from some of the big names in graffiti and street art: Andrew Chew, Andy Mac, Miso, Ghost Patrol, HaHa, Drew, Meggs, Reka, Vexta, Phibs and Rone. Presented as part of State of Design Festival.
