See the engine from the first powered aeroplane to fly in Australia. The plane was a Wright Model A, designed by Orville Wright of the Wright brothers. Piloted by English racing driver Colin Defries and named 'The Stella' after Defries' wife, the plane flew about 100 yards (91m) on 9 December 1909. The flight was witnessed and reported by several reliable sources, but was not officially recognized and the first flight trophy was awarded to Harry Houdini (Ehrich Weiss) in 1910. This engine is one of the most significant aeronautical artefacts in Museum Victoria's collection.

A pair of colossal prehistoric winged animals were seen making their way across the city to find a new home at Scienceworks, where they will go on display as part of the exhibition Explore-a-saurus, opening in June.

The two life size model pteranodons were transported from Museum Victoria's Collection Store in Moreland to the popular interactive science museum in Spotswood with the help of two open tray trucks, providing Melbourne motorists with a unique sight on the freeway.

The creatures, with wingspans more than six metres in length, will hang from the ceiling of Scienceworks' special exhibition gallery, currently being transformed for the interactive exhibition Explore-a-saurus.

The MARKET CHEF competition is heating up with high school students back in the MARKET CHEF outdoor kitchen on Wednesdays at 10am at the Original Eumundi Markets.

Schools in the running for the title of MARKET CHEF 2011 are Immanuel Lutheran College; Peregian Beach College; St Theresa's Catholic College; Burnside State High School; Maroochydore State High School (A and B - two teams); Sunshine Beach High School and St Andrews Anglican College.

While the competition is still very open to all the teams, St Andrews Anglican College are at the top of the ladder at this stage, followed by St Theresa's Catholic College and Maroochydore High B.

The recipes all incorporate fresh produce and ingredients from local growers and suppliers available at Eumundi Markets.

It's sure to be colourful, memorable and a night of all things fantasy and fun when the art galleries of Eumundi host a Masked Gallery Walk to mark the gala opening of the 2010 Australian Body Art Carnivale weekend on Friday 14 May 2010 from 6pm.

At each gallery, guests will be wined and dined, with superb food provided by Eumundi's award-winning eateries and producers of culinary delights- Food@Eumundi, The Fig Tree, Azzurro, Cocoa Chocolat, and Red Dog Coffee Traders.

Following the gala launch and Masked Gallery Walk, the weekend will see competitions and exhibitions in full body art and face painting, pavement art, wearable art, vehicle body art, photography, and visual art. There'll also be world-class street performers and musicians, workshops, a Saturday evening sunset street party, and a whole lot more.
