The majority of Palestinians living in Australia have no lived experience of Palestine. Handing on the key explores how a sense of cultural identity is passed from one generation to the next through tradition, stories, activism and commemoration and how this continuing journey shapes and changes Palestinian identity through generations.

Many Palestinians living in Australia expected that they would one day return to their homeland. They left everything in their homes, locking the door behind them and taking the key. Many were unable to return and most homes have since been demolished or are now inaccessible. Today the keys - all they have left of their homes - are a reminder of what they have lost and what they hope someday to reclaim.

The first wave of Palestinians migrating to Australia was in the late 1960s following the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The beginning of the Lebanese war in 1975 and the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982 caused further migrations. The most recent wave came in the aftermath of the Gulf War in 1991. In 2006 there were as many as 7,500 Palestinians living in Australia, with over 1,500 living in Victoria.

Handing on the key celebrates the contribution that Palestinians have made to Australian society and is filled with migration stories. The exhibition also features traditional costumes, travel documents and other mementos that keep the Palestinian connection alive, as well as a video featuring a Palestinian dance group performing a traditional dance called dabkeh.

Frontiers of Science

Venue:ABC foyer, Harris Street Ultimo
Date:'August 11 to 28 (weekdays) and all day Saturday August 29 '
Fee:Entry is free
Forty years ago, space was little more than one big exciting question mark. It was a time when humans were first landing on the moon, the first satellite was being launched and one comic series, Frontiers of Science, was continuously making the front page of major newspapers across Australia.

A stunning collection of black and white images from the Frontiers of Science comic strip series will be on display at the ABC as part of the Ultimo Science Festival.

For those too young to remember, the facts-based series ran from 1961 to the 1980s in the Sydney Morning Herald and other major newspapers. It explored a different topic each week such as space travel, climate change or world population problems.

The comic strip was the result of an unlikely alliance between two men from utterly different worlds. Professor Stuart Butler was a theoretical physicist at the University of Sydney and Bob Raymond was a journalist, writer, filmmaker and executive producer of ABC TV's Four Corners program.

2009 Harvest of Australian Tuber Melanosporum Truffles at Prahran Market

Venue:Prahran Market: 163 Commercial Road, South Yarra VIC 3141
Date:'11 June'
Damian Pike Wild Mushroom Specialist at Prahran Market will be receiving the first shipment of the delicious Tuber Melanosporum truffles from the Wine and Truffle Company on June 11 2009. Don't miss out!

Truffles are subterranean fungi which grow underground on the roots of trees that are infected with truffle spores. Truffles are round, warty, and irregular in shape and vary from the size of a walnut to that of a man's fist. Their pungent and unique flavour is held in high culinary esteem internationally. Brillat-Savarin called truffles 'the diamond of the kitchen'.

BUT BUYER BEWARE - beware of 'false truffles'- there are other types of truffles being sold in Australia at the moment that are coming from Spain (in the wrong season - their summer) and other varieties of truffles grown in places like China. These truffles do not have the same aroma or flavour and are known as 'false truffles'. Do NOT be fooled into parting with good money for these very inferior truffles. ALWAYS ask where they are from and what species they are.

Fee:Adults $21.00 Concession $17.50 Child $16.00 Family $60.00 with free entry into Melbourne Museum with every IMAX ticket
It's both a new 'night' and a new 'museum' for Ben Stiller, who is joined by several other stars from the original film, as well as new characters from history - including Amy Adams as famed aviatrix Amelia Earhart, Hank Azaria as villainous Egyptian pharaoh Kahmunrah, Christopher Guest as Russian tyrant Ivan the Terrible and Alain Chabat as Napoleon. Owen Wilson is back as cowboy Jedediah, and Robin Williams again rides into history as Teddy Roosevelt. The centerpiece of the film is that it brings to life the Smithsonian Institution. Housing the world's largest museum complex, the Smithsonian has a collection of more than 136 million items - ranging from the plane Amelia Earhart flew on her non-stop solo flight across the Atlantic to Al Capone's rap sheet and mug shot to Dorothy's ruby red slippers and Archie Bunker's lounge chair.

In this second installment in the Night at the Museum saga, Larry faces a battle so epic it could only unfold in the corridors of the world's largest museum. Now, Larry must try to save his formerly inanimate friends from what could be their last stand amid the wonders of the Smithsonian, all of which - from the famous paintings on the walls to the rocket ships in the halls - suddenly have a mind of their own.

Sita Sings the Blues PG
Nina Paley, 82 mins, USA, 2008, 35mm

Directed, written, produced, designed and animated by Nina Paley, this glorious film blends the story of Nina's real-life breakup with the ancient tale of the Ramayana. Both dutiful to their husbands, Sita, a goddess in the ancient tale, and Nina, not quite a goddess but a heroine just the same, have their hearts broken. Along the way, Sita sings her sweet, sweet songs, which are actually recordings by 1920s jazz vocalist Annette Hanshaw.

'Godfather of Soul' James Brown screams onto the screen in this electrifying new work documenting the wild concert that preceded the legendary Ali vs Foreman 'Rumble in the Jungle' bout of 1974. Containing no contemporary interviews and very much a companion piece to Leon Gast's When We Were Kings (which Levy-Hinte co-edited), Soul Power is part concert film, part social commentary but all sweat and pelvis. As such it captures a most explosive of musical moments with enormous precision. Filled with great off-the-cuff sequences and int!
