Dance Massive

Venue:Arts House, Malthouse Theatre and Dancehouse
Date:'3-15 March 2009'
Booking:www.dancemassive.com.au for more details
Experience dance across the city as never before with Dance Massive a two-week showcase featuring outstanding Australian contemporary dance work from both established and emerging companies and choreographers.

From the energetic and playful to the contemplative and intimate, this collection of work is a visually spectacular series of sensory and physical experiences. Comprising a mix of full length and shorter works, the Massive program includes 14 contemporary performances presented over 12 days at three inner-Melbourne venues Arts House, Malthouse Theatre and Dancehouse.

Dance Massive represents a fresh approach towards new and sustainable ways of imagining and realising a concentration of dance programming nationally to benefit the sector and the artists involved while at the same time engaging audiences, in what is arguably the creative epicentre of contemporary dance in Australia.
Melbourne audiences will get a chance to fill their dance card with productions by some of the country s seminal dance figures in Russell Dumas and Helen Herbertson along with the new force of Rogue who burst onto the scene at last year s Next Wave Festival. And if that s not enough, the program also includes established companies such as Chunky Move, Lucy Guerin Inc and Splintergroup.

Dance Massive is presented by Arts House, Malthouse Theatre, Dancehouse in conjunction with Ausdance Victoria and with the support of the Australia Council for the Arts and Arts Victoria.

The Beatstakes: Limbo Messiah

Date:'Rel: 28 February 2009'
Booking:themusicconnection
The BEATSTEAKS have already succeeded in creating an unmistakable full-speed-ahead, right-in-your-face sound on their four previous albums. "Smack Smash" (2004) delivered the climax so far and not only was awarded Gold status, but also included three irresistible single hits.

".Limbo Messiah" is completely different and yet still typically BEATSTEAKS. About half of the songs are driven by the catapult energy that you find with American hardcore combos from the Eighties. "Bands like Black Flag, Minor Threat and so on can't play like Pink Floyd, but they had this unbelievable power. On the other hand the Bad Brain did have this diversified musicality," Torsten enthuses. But that's a long way from being all. Besides the mentioned fast-as-lightning outpourings of energy (for example "As I Please", "Bad Brain", "Sharp, Cool & Collected", among others), ".Limbo Messiah" offers a lot of other sounds. "She Was Great" has a funky groove and falsetto vocals; "Soljanka" is a compact rocker crowned with thunderous Keith Moon drums; "E-G-O" turns out to be an adventure that provides new kicks every time you hear it. And in the frantic "Demons Galore" resounds a heartbreaking melancholic lead melody/solo guitar as well as backing vocals that are reminiscent of Queen. "I find Freddie Mercury to be very inspiring. Maybe not the look, but in respect to vocals, lyrics and attitude. He is one of the greatest," says Arnim in praise of the far-too-soon departed entertainment icon.

Delamare with The Presets, Pete Murray, Faker & Operator Please

Venue:Clipsal 500 TrackSounds On-Circuit Concert
Date:'Friday, March 20'
Booking:Tickets are available from Ticketek on phone 132-849 or online at ticketek.com.au
The Jim Beam TrackSounds On-Circuit Concert Series for the 2009 Clipsal 500 Adelaide continues in year eleven of the event with local five-piece, Delamare, having been confirmed to play, supporting The Presets, Pete Murray, Faker and Operator Please on Friday, March 20.

Clipsal 500 Adelaide Chief Executive Jason Allen said today that the event is committed to supporting local talent and he was delighted with the bands selected.

"Delamare is a great group and given that the Clipsal 500 Adelaide is not only SA's largest annual sporting event, but also one of our biggest music festivals, it's great to present emerging local talent to such a large audience."

The last 12-months have been non-stop for Delamare who have been touring relentlessly playing with the likes of The Getaway Plan, Closure in Moscow, Stealing O Neal, Brittle, Acid Eyeliner, Natalie Gauci, The Hot Lies and In Fiction whilst promoting their debut EP Imaginary Things . In December 2008, Delamare performed at the Annual Schoolies Festival in Victor Harbour South Australia.

Although Delamare have only been on the scene for a short amount of time, they have already made their impression felt. Their first EP was produced by Luke Webb, whose credits include The Angels, Rose Tattoo, Faker and Kisschasy and shows just how commercially sound the band already is with plenty of pop hooks and catchy lyrics.

Delamare deliver their audience a mix of punchy riffs, fresh harmonies and energetic key and a high energy stage show, making a name for themselves within the Adelaide, and the wider Australian music scene.

Moving in to 2009, the band will hit the recording studio to write and record tracks for what will be the band s debut full length album due for release late 2009 or early 2010.
