Shipwreck stories (5 - 12yrs)
1st - 15th of July 2012
10am to 4pm (hourly sessions)
Children will be given an introduction to the fascinating world of marine archaeology by learning about techniques for unearthing a shipwreck's story. They will also make their own ship models inspired by RMS Titanic as well as souvenirs and giant iceberg sculptures.
Shipwreck Stories is run in conjunction with the museum's memorial exhibition, Remembering Titanic - 100 years.
The hourly sessions run from 10am to 4pm. Entry $8.50 per child or free with the museum's Big Ticket, $25 adult, $10 child or $60 family. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Youth photography workshop: Cockatoo Island adventures (8 - 14yrs)
10th or 11th July 2012 9.30am to 2.30pm
Budding photographers will have great fun in this adventurous photography workshop in the spectacular shipyards of Cockatoo Island. They will build their skills using digital SLR cameras and learn photo-editing techniques.
Family tour: Art in the dark 14 July 2012
5 - 7pm
Families are invited to join fishy guide, Monsieur le Poisson for a fascinating evening devoted to art. Monsieur le Poisson will lead visitors through a special family focused tour of the Fish in Australian art exhibition before they take part in fun glow in the dark art activities. They will also be able to sample French fare and refreshments.
