Come and celebrate with the Yarra Valley Regional Food Group (YVRFG) in March 2018, as they notch up 20 successful years. To mark the occasion, this remarkable group of growers and producers will jazz up their Farmers' Market on the third Sunday in March with celebrities, face painters, live music, cooking demonstrations, a mobile reptile zoo, food stalls and jumping castles on the lawns at Yering Station – so Save the Date – Sunday 18 March 2018.
YVRFG is the oldest and longest running farmers' market in Victoria, established by Suzanne Halliday 19 years ago, to collectively showcase the Yarra Valley's incredibly diverse range of high quality produce, in addition to its amazing wine. It can be said that Suzanne Halliday did for the Yarra Valley's produce what her husband James did for its wine.
Held on the third Sunday of the month in Yering Station's historic barn at Yarra Glen, the 45 or so regular market stallholders have acquired a loyal following over the years, with people traveling for miles to buy direct from the region's growers, producers and makers. The stall holders sell incredible fresh berries, oils, jams, preserves, sauces, olives, herbs, spices, eggs, flowers, bread, cheese, honey, garlic, cakes, biscuits, and all of it locally grown and made, in Victoria's Yarra Valley.
Chairperson and Market Co-ordinator Frances Caltieri says stallholders and regular market goers alike are looking forward to the celebration -Being a grower and a producer means long hours, getting up early, setting up and packing down, in all weathers, and there's a great deal of hard work and commitment that goes in to making a farmers' market so successful. So it will be a lovely way to mark our 20 year milestone in March 2018, and celebrate with those who have supported us over the years and shop at the market knowing they will get fresh, beautifully grown produce, made by the stallholders, high in quality.'
