True Hollywood Stories: Football Wives Premiere
Venue E!
Date Thursday, 7th January
Time @ 8:30pm
Stereotypes about the relationships of out-of-control NFL stars abound. The image of violent, promiscuous party animals - tempted by drugs, booze, and gold-digging groupies - as seen in Oliver Stone's Any Given Sunday - makes it hard to imagine how football wives be anything but hard-as-nails predators.

But not all are money-grubbing floozies or bimbos. And the old saying - that behind every great man there stands a woman - applies just as much to pro-football as to any other career. Still, football wives do enjoy the perks that come with being married to a pro athlete: big houses, big cars, fame - and plenty of bling. But they also face the same challenges as other celebrity wives: the scrutiny of life in the public eye, the threat of groupies, and lots of alone time when hubby is on the road.

THS explores the ups and downs of some of the NFL's hottest - and most diverse - wives. They include: Jennifer Walcott (Adam Archuletta), October Gonzalez (Tony Gonzalez), Christy Cooley (Chris Cooley) and Carmen Cousin (Terry Cousin).

The villagers are furious, and the decision churns up many old secrets in the town. Proud matriarch of the Inkpen family, Elspeth, shares the manor with Naomi (her daughter), Naomi's legitimate daughter Fliss and Naomi's put-upon illegitimate daughter, Hilary.

All is not well in the Inkpen household. Fliss, spoiled and cruel, is resentful of the arrival of Hilary after many years of not knowing she existed. But while Fliss continues to live a pampered life, Hilary is treated as a kind of Cinderella figure - a servant to Elspeth, Naomi and Fliss. When Fliss is found dead in the garden, her head bashed in with a spade, she is the first of several people murdered in Midsomer-Deverell. Fliss's mother Naomi is the next to die mysteriously - are the murders somehow linked?

What secrets does the Inkpen's memorial garden conceal? Does the gardener - who has been sleeping with both Fliss and Naomi - have something to do with the murders? And how might eminent local landowner, Augustus Deverell, be involved in the whole affair?

The Sphinx Unmasked
Venue ABC1
Date Tuesday, 20 October
Time 8:30pm
It is the largest free standing sculpture ever carved from a single block; an icon recognised around the globe. The Sphinx, a lion with the face of a mighty pharaoh, towers twenty metres high and stretches seventy metres long.

It is a silent witness to thousands of years of history. For over 4,500 years it has stood guard in front of the Giza Pyramids, yet it remains one of history's most enigmatic mysteries. Based in Cairo, top Egyptologist Dr Vassil Dobrev has spent over twenty years researching the Sphinx, and has a theory that proposes a completely new and previously unrecognised pharaoh as the builder of the Sphinx.

His name was Djedefre, and according to Dobrev's pioneering research, he was the true driving force behind some of the most remarkable structures in all of ancient Egypt. Yet to prove that this little-known king created this incredible monument, Dobrev must first crack a conundrum that has baffled Egyptologists for years - he must unmask the Sphinx to reveal the identity of its face. Yet the final proof lies in the intricacies of the design - does the Sphinx bear the face of the Djedefre's father, Khufu? To solve the mystery Dobrev forced his mind back 4,500 years to the time of the ancient Egyptians.

Otto Preminger Season: The Human Factor
Venue ABC2
Date Saturday, 24 October 2009
Time 8:30pm
This compelling spy-thriller was the last film directed by Preminger and in making it he brilliantly chose Tom Stoppard to adapt Graham Greene's novel. The 'human factor', exemplified by Greene in the novel, was the heart of the matter for so many of Preminger's films.

Maurice Castle (Nicol Williamson) is a carefully organised and methodical lower level civil servant who happens to work for British Intelligence in the area of African affairs. He has a beautiful African wife (Iman), an adopted son, and a particularly English way of approaching his boring job. Everything is compartmentalised, ordered and devoid of passion.

This rather ordinary man is approaching the safe end of his career when he becomes the object of a security check, an event that irretrievably changes his life and reveals him to have been a rather reluctant double agent who somehow slipped into treason, not for money or out of conviction, but for reasons that tragically confuse private and public loyalties. He loses everything. Forced to defect to Russia, Castle finds it all quite absurd and devastating.

Time 8:30pm
This decade has seen the greatest rise in the value of art in the history of the world as contemporary art prices increased by 800% from 2003 until 2008.
The lustrous contemporary art bubble blew bigger and lasted longer than the global credit bubble, the property bubble and the oil bubble. On September 15, 2008, the day Lehmans collapsed bearing the worst financial news since 1929, Damien Hirst sold over 70 million pounds of his art at a Sotheby's auction that totalled 111 million pounds over two days.

Art critic, art lover and filmmaker Ben Lewis spent all of 2008 investigating this bubble. Everywhere he went, the art world told him the boom would last forever, fuelled by a new passion from the world's super rich. He saw it as a bubble akin to tulip fever and was filming when it burst in spectacular fashion.

skippy: Australia's first super star
Venue ABC1
Date Thursday, September 17
Time at 8.30pm
Narrated by Magda Szubanski, this one-hour documentary is a warm, witty, affectionate and definitive look at one of Australia's most cherished TV stars, Skippy the bush kangaroo.

Everybody remembers Skippy. The family show about the kid and the kangaroo that was sold in 128 countries, watched by hundreds of millions worldwide and put Australia firmly on the global map. For those of a certain generation, the heroic marsupial is synonymous with their childhood, often in more profound ways than they realise...

The film is both a tribute to the forward-thinking and hard-working souls who created the ground-breaking series, and also an analysis of how they did it, and what it meant for all those millions of viewers around the world.

Skippy: Australia's First Super Star also pays appropriate homage to the millions of viewers around the world who enjoyed the show each week, by talking to members of the public in the street about their memories and stories of Skippy.

Fast, fun, entertaining, and undoubtedly nostalgic, the film leaves the viewer laughing, crying and ultimately realising the importance of a TV series that finally showed Australian stories could, and did, find a worldwide audience.

Four Corners: Fear in the Fast Lane
Venue ABC1
Date Monday 17 August
Time 8.30pm
There's little doubt the internet has changed our lives for the better. You can book holidays, do your banking and pay bills online. But do you realise how easy it is for a cyber-crook to take control of your computer without you even knowing it?

Imagine this! You go to book tickets at a reputable theatre web site. That site has been infected by mal-ware. By simply clicking on that site your computer can become a slave to a central computer and join millions of other infected computers in what's called a 'botnet'. Immediately it is possible for a criminal to steal information from you, including your bank and credit card details but the thief can do even more. Your computer could be used to send thousands of spam emails a day to people around the world. It could even be used to attack businesses, or even entire countries. And you wouldn't notice a thing.

It sounds remarkable but, as Four Corners explains, one in six computers in Australia is, or has been, part of a 'botnet' and a 'botnet' attack has already destroyed a major business. Other 'botnet' attacks have resulted in personal information being stolen and then sold on the international black-market. The result? Bank accounts are emptied and millions of dollars stolen.

Police told Four Corners they are now so concerned by this type of crime they have set up covert operations on the web to infiltrate illicit marketplaces.

Larry Flynt: The Right To Be Left Alone
Date Wednesday, 24 June 2009
Time 9:30pm
An impressionistic documentary explores America's most famous smut peddler, Larry Flynt. An often polarising figure, Larry Flynt has long struggled to expand the parameters of free speech and expose what he called the hypocrisy of America's elected leaders.

The focus of this film is less on his life and legacy than on his First Amendment court battles over the past 30 years.

He's spent more time in court than many lawyers and even spent time in jail for his beliefs. So when this man talks about the meaning of democracy, many believe he has earned the right to be heard.

Note By Note: The Making Of Steinway
Venue ABC2
Date Sunday 21st June, 2009
Following the story of a single Steinway piano from its humble beginnings, from forest floor to concert hall, the film explores the relationship between musician and instrument, chronicling the manufacturing process, and illustrating what makes each Steinway unique in this age of mass production.

From the factory in Queens to Steinway Hall in Manhattan, each piano's journey is complex - spanning 12 months, 12,000 parts, 450 craftsmen, and countless hours of fine-tuned labour.

The most thoroughly handcrafted instruments in the world, Steinway pianos are as unique and full of personality as the world-class musicians who play them. However, their makers are a dying breed: skilled cabinetmakers, gifted tuners, and experienced hand-crafters.

The story covers every step in the process of creating grand concert piano L1037, and talks along the way with famous pianists about the qualities of a great instrument. But it's the portrait of the factory as a melting pot of highly skilled craftsmen which sets the film apart; the love of work, exemplified by the factory workers and the artists they serve, is at the heart of the film's vision.

Pullman's (Amanda Redman) professional and personal worlds collide when the team reopens a case originally investigated by bent copper DCI Bobby McAdam, a colleague of her dead father.

Having discovered that her father, a police hero in her eyes, was being investigated for corruption shortly before his death, Pullman uses McAdam to find out the truth about her dad's past. But the truth leads to a discovery that puts enormous pressure on her already-volatile relationship with her mother, Grace. Meanwhile, the boys are enjoying the fruits of their labour at Felspar's Brewery. Family run, Felspar's was rocked by the death of 26-year-old Chief Brewer Graham Thompson, who drowned in one of the fermentation tanks. At the time of the original investigation, DCI McAdam had been too busy chatting up the victim's girlfriend, Anna Hodgkiss, to bother taking her seriously when she claimed that Graham was anxious about something at work.

However, the team does believe Graham may have been deeply troubled. But does the answer to his death lie with brewery owner, Sir Wilfred 'Freddy' Felspar and those working for him, or does it lie in the beer itself? While Brian (Alun Armstrong) takes on the brewery, Gerry (Dennis Waterman) and Jack (James Bolam) tackle the brew. Surprisingly, both result in the same outcome.

The Ascent Of Money: Safe As Houses and Back Home
Venue ABC1
Date Thursday, 25 June
Time from 8:30pm
The Ascent Of Money: Safe As Houses:
It sounded so simple: give state-owned assets to the people. After all, what better foundation for a property-owning democracy than a campaign of privatisation encompassing housing?
An economic theory says that markets cannot function without mortgages, because it is only by borrowing against their assets that entrepreneurs can get their businesses off the ground. But what if mortgages are bundled together and sold off to the highest bidder? This week Professor Niall Ferguson explains how someone's bright idea to bundle together a bunch of sub-prime mortgages and sell them on, virtually brought down the world's financial markets.

Back Home:
This is the first and only film made by a 1994 Rwandan genocide survivor about his experiences, escape and return to his homeland. At the age of seventeen, J.B. Rutagarama was marked for murder by machete-wielding Hutu militias. Remarkably he survived, though dozens of his relatives were slaughtered. J.B. fled Rwanda alone, but along the way he met an American television crew who changed his life. They took him in, cared for him and eventually became his surrogate parents. They sent him to film school in England, where he graduated with honours. Afterwards he moved to New York City and began working as a studio cameraman. Then, 9/11 happened. What he saw that day brought all of his nightmares flooding back. As America struggled with its grief, J.B. felt compelled to face his own. He left for Rwanda to face the horrors of his past. In Back Home J.B. takes viewers on a very personal journey to witness his sorrow and surprising joy when he finds the person he loved the most is still alive. Through her, he could heal at last.

Artscape: Circus Oz: The Big Birthday Bash: pt2
Venue ABC1 and ABC2 on June 28th
Date Tuesday, 23 June 2009 or Sunday, June 28 at 7:00pm
Time 10:00pm
Part two of Artscape's The Big Birthday Bash series follows Circus Oz during rehearsals for their landmark 30th birthday show in 2008. At Circus Oz's HQ in Port Melbourne, the full troupe of acrobats and the band return from tour for rehearsals.
Emil Wolk, guest director in charge of theatrical character development is hard at work on Nicci and Justin's slapstick chewing gum routine. Flip is back on skates after her injury, and Rocky and Paul begin run-throughs of their new tango chair-stack routine. The teeterboard routine shapes up with the acrobats playing a mob of feral kangaroos, while contortionist Sosi is jammed into a tank of water to practise a comic escape stunt called The Tank of Terror.

After a shoulder accident scare, Nicci pipes up and says the new roo routine is simply 'not funny'. She even suggests 'it's a bit of a mess'. Frustrated her suggestions are not being acted upon she claims the collaborative/collective model is just an old ideal that Circus Oz doesn't run on any more.

As the countdown to opening night continues tension rises when not everything goes to plan. A late decision to include show director Tim Coldwell's classic film noir, roof walk to the line-up, adds to the show's overblown length. Mike Finch informs Tim Coldwell that 'bold cuts' are urgently needed. Adding to the headache, technical problems delay the Circus Oz tent going up at Melbourne's Birrarung Marr.

Date Tuesday, 23 June 2009
Time 8:30pm
In the first episode of series seven we meet Ian and Sophie Cooper, a London couple who are passionate about design and who plan to restore a 200-year-old Grade 2 (UK) listed industrial building in an area of outstanding beauty.

The 'Apprentice Store' in Somerset, near Bath, has been derelict for over 25 years, its only inhabitants being a colony of bats. Before Ian and Sophie began the restoration process of the building, they first had to build a new 'bat cave' to re-house the protected mammals. Ian and Sophie not only plan to restore the old building, but add a large glass extension, creating a cool modern interior to make the most of the incredible views. However, they discover this wreck of a building has no foundations and sits on unstable ground.

The only way to prevent their dream home from sliding down the hill is by stabilising it with a mammoth piling system - a complex engineering job. Everything on this restoration from the windows to the pointing has to be approved by planning and conservation, which adds time and money to the construction process. Nearly two years and one baby later, Sophie has almost lost sight of why they are working on restoring this old building. For her, it feels more like a building project rather than the creation of a long-awaited family home.

Venue ABC1
Date Monday, 22 June 2009
Time 9:35pm
MI5 are confronting an old enemy - Russia - as it emerges as a new superpower, while continuing to battle the threat of Islamist terrorism. In episode one, The Last Post, former British MI5 officer, Lucas North, was returned on a secret spy swap after having suffered eight years in a Russian gaol.

Anxious to get back onto the Grid and back to work, Lucas joined forces with MI5 officer and friend, Adam Carter, to rescue a kidnapped British soldier, just back from Afghanistan and being held by Al Qaeda terrorists. Meanwhile Ros, who had been working undercover in Russia after faking her own death, was called back to London by Harry. She provided vital intelligence to MI5 revealing that Al Qaeda, supported by Russian Chechens, planned to detonate a bomb during a London Remembrance service in protest against the war in Afghanistan.

Adam and Lucas were despatched to prevent the blast. Adam found the bomb in a car parked near the service, and heroically drove the vehicle to an empty London square where it could detonate at no risk to civilians, but tragically was himself caught in the blast and killed.

Date Sunday, 21 June 2009
Time 8:30pm
In the first of a brand new series of four new adaptations. When Miss Marple learns of the deaths of businessman Rex Fortescue, his young wife Adele and their housemaid Gladys, the circumstances vividly recall the nursery rhyme Sing a Song of Sixpence, and since Miss Marple had trained Gladys herself she has a very personal reason to investigate...

The opulent family household is run under the watchful eye of housekeeper Mary Dove, but Miss Marple soon sees it is a fractured home - Rex's son Percival is desperately trying to save the company whilst neglecting his wife Jennifer, and a bitter sibling rivalry has re-ignited since the return of younger son Lance with his aristocratic new wife Pat. With the help of Inspector Neele and Sergeant Pickford, Miss Marple questions why Rex's daughter Elaine and the debonair Vivian Dubois should be so evasive about their whereabouts at the time of the murders, and she begins to understand the significance of the blackbirds that have been making unexpected appearances...

With her mischievously beguiling manner Miss Marple draws vital clues to make sense of the rhyme and at last reveal the truth!

Nature's Great Events: The Great Salmon Run
Venue ABC1
Date Sunday, 21 June 2009
Time 7:30pm
The return of the Pacific salmon every year to the rivers from which they were born, is one of the greatest natural events on the planet. More than half a billion salmon travel up to 20,000 miles to return to the exact patch of gravel in the river from which they were born, to spawn and die.

Using high speed cameras and specially designed digital underwater kits, Nature's Great Events amazingly capture the salmon swimming upstream and against powerful torrents. Salmon have an incredible sense of smell and can detect just a drop of the water from the river they came from among billions of litres of sea water.

On the west coast of Canada and Alaska, over 2,000 miles away, a number of predators eagerly await the salmon's return. Killer whales, sea lions and bald eagles eagerly anticipate the millions of salmon heading their way. In order to survive, bears find themselves eating clams, barnacles and even grass while they wait for the salmon. But they are threatened by coastal wolves, which have been known to kill and eat small bears.

After spawning, the salmon die and yet their decaying bodies continue to feed the animals gathered along the rivers, as well as providing nutrients to feed the developing salmon eggs in the river. The time-lapse cameras demonstrate that the dead fish also sustain the forest itself.

Kendra Wilkinson TV
Venue E! is available on FOXTEL and AUSTAR on Channel 121
Date begins: Tuesday 9th June
Time 9.30pm
Blonde bombshell Kendra Wilkinson says good-bye to the good life at the Playboy Mansion and ventures out for the first time on her own in the new E! reality series 'Kendra.' Nine episodes follow the outrageous and loveable antics of the 'The Girls of the Playboy Mansion' fan-favorite as she leaves her pampered world, sets up a new home and tries to adjust to a life filled with domestic responsibilities. Kendra's struggles with setting up her household are just the beginning of her adventure as she is also busy planning her fairy-tale wedding with Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Hank Baskett.

Adding to the stress and chaos, Kendra and her future husband's worlds often collide as her uninhibited wild-side clashes with his conservative lifestyle.

In the premiere episode, Kendra wakes up in her own home for the first time and it's instant pandemonium. From grocery shopping to feeding her dogs, nothing is easy for Kendra who quickly realises that life without butlers, cooks and maids is much harder than she anticipated. After leaving the Mansion amenities behind, Kendra discovers she has nearly no household items when she moves in to her new home and decides to throw a housewarming party to score some free gifts.

She does some decorating before the guests arrive but traditional furniture won't do for this ex-Playboy cover girl and she installs a stripper pole as her first big home improvement purchase. Kendra is thrilled that so many of her colorful friends show up for the party, especially when Hef makes a surprise appearance.

After the party has ended and everyone has gone, Kendra decides it's time for Hank to meet Hef. Her anxiety level rockets as she introduces the two most significant men in her life to each other, but Hef is as gracious as ever, giving Hank a tour of the grounds, and even offering the young couple the Playboy Mansion as a dream location for their nuptials. The more Kendra and Hank think about it, the more they realise that despite Hank's initial concerns, the Playboy Mansion would be a perfect setting for their wedding. With the picturesque backdrop for the big day in place, Kendra works feverishly with Mansion staff and her wedding planner to make sure everything, from the rehearsal dinner to the bridal shower to the big event, is picture-perfect.

Throughout the series, Kendra's sensitive side takes center stage as she focuses on her relationship with Hank and their pending nuptials. The couple has enjoyed an exciting, romantic long-distance relationship and viewers see the lovebirds at their finest as they take a hilarious and memorable road trip to move Hank from New Mexico to California. While Hank and Kendra are opposites in many ways, the two share a very competitive love of sports. When the two are invited to play in a celebrity basketball game for charity and they end up on opposing teams, the trash talking begins until Kendra sinks a three-pointer while being guarded by her fiance.

Kendra's close-knit friends and family are around as she takes the ride of her life, and help her out whenever needed. Girlfriends Amber Campisi and Britney Binger provide a constant support system and do their best to keep her in check. Meanwhile her family keeps a watchful eye out as Kendra's mum, grandmother and brother are understandably anxious about her ability to live on her own, sometimes sticking their noses into Kendra's business more than she would like.

'Kendra,' along with E!'s hit series 'Girls of the Playboy Mansion' is executive produced and was developed for television by Kevin Burns, multiple Emmy Award-winning producer of numerous non-fiction cable series and specials. The series is produced by Prometheus Entertainment, Fox Television Studios and Alta Loma Entertainment.

One Night in Sofia
Venue ABC 1
Date Tuesday June 2nd
Time 8.00pm
Every year thousands of young Australians pack their backpacks, book their EuRail passes and make for Europe, leaving their parents to worry and fret about their wellbeing and their ability to cope with foreign languages and customs.

God forbid anything should happen to them.

Two days after Christmas in 2007, Australian pathologist Simon Palfreeman got the call any parent would dread. His 21 year old - Jock - had been in a fight, another young man was dead and the Bulgarian criminal justice system had swallowed his son.

A year and a half on, with legal machinery groaning and Jock Palfreeman locked on a murder charge in Sofia Central Prison, Foreign Correspondent travels to Bulgaria with a father desperate to prove his son's innocence but growing ever more doubtful about the ability of the Bulgarian system to deliver justice.

The dead man, 20 year old Andrei Monov, died from stab wounds on the way to hospital. Jock Palfreeman admits wielding the knife that killed him, but claims it was in self defence.

He says he tried to break up a gang attack on some gypsies when the gang turned on him.

The Foreign Correspondent story is reported by Belinda Hawkins. It's the first time that either Jock Palfreeman or any of his family have spoken to the media since his arrest.
